She knew when she hit the accelerator that there was an officer in front of her car who stood a high chance of being struck if she did so. Intentionally engaging in a violent, dangerous act that potentially puts others in harm's way is all that's required for an assault charge. Stop gaslighting already. She should be charged for making any contact with the officer, even if incidental. But that’s not the same as intent to hit the officer.
