BREAKING: Thad Cochran Campaign busted for illegal vote buying operation

Since SCOTUS says that money is protected free speech, then Buying Votes is the same as asking someone to vote a certain way making that Protected Free Speech.

If money is free speech, then I should be able to allow the candidate handing me the largest pile of free speech to get my vote or pay me not to vote for someone else.

It should be legal for a candidate to buy votes or pay people not to vote.

Republicans spent over $200 per voter in the Iowa caucus on negative adds. They should have just gave me $200 to not vote for their opponent.

They can be arrested for making false statements to police, Doc. If they have already reported this to law enforcement officials, they can under penalty of law be fined or imprisoned for making false statements to law enforcement officials. Seriously.

As far as any of us know, they haven't made any statements to the police at all.

Hence the word "if," Doc.

Well, that's a pretty big "if" for you to base your argument on.

Still Got News. You think texts on a phone prove something? I can send someone a text saying the same thing. why didn't he take a picture of the money or video himself handing out the money. Who are they from, why can't they spell?

I can't watch all of the video, so if it is a real news source and not Got News, provide me a link.

LOL, something stinks about this 'story'. Got Milk...er News?

If you weren't such a dumbass you would be aware of the fact that the phone number the text came from is recorded.

Isn't anybody surprised this act of liberal journalism occurred after the election? Set Thad up for the win and then cut his throat afterwards.

Are you under the impression that Got News is a "liberal" site?
Anybody can start a website and claim they're conservative. I'm not buying it..

I thought I had seen some truly monumental idiocy in this forum, but you have just raised it to a whole new level. Your idiocy is off the hook.

Under the penalty of perjury...where do you get that?

If you make any criminal accusation against someone, and you are found out to have lied to law enforcement officials, you commit perjury.

No, that is not true. Perjury is a crime that is committed when you are under oath in a court of law. You can't get charged with perjury for lying to the police. You can get charged with filing a false police report...but they aren't really filing a police report...they are asking police to investigate a situation. If someone lies to the police during that investigation, then there are numerous charges that can be filed against them but they usually are not because the police perform an investigation to find the truth.

Perjury is essentially a form of lying, whether it be under oath, or in a report to police. It is confined to judicial proceedings as far as the law goes, but I use the term for its vocabularic value. It's a fancy word for lying, as I said. The real charge is making false statements to law enforcement officials. Frankly, I don't see any difference between the two. Making false statements is court is perjury, making false statements to law officials can be construed as such, although an oath wasn't made.

On a side note, the Cochran campaign has already been busted for having Democrats vote for him in the primary, this (if true) would all but confirm it.

Just proves the idiocy of SCOTUS saying money is free speech.

The texts themselves aren't actually incriminating, at least the ones you can see in the photos.

And trust me, I've been looking for more legitimate sources as well.

Well, that's a pretty big "if" for you to base your argument on.

Well I'm willing to risk it. To me, the accusations being made are too outlandish to be false. In fact Mississippi has a history of electoral hijinks, this would fit the pattern, if true.

They're not "outlandish" accusations at all. They're wet dream accusations.

They are accusations that Conservatives all over the country really, really want to be true.

That's why you believe it - because you want it to be true.

Really? Two word. "If true." The fact you referred to them as "wet dream" accusations would indicate to me that you want them to be false.

The magnitude of the claims being made would bring attention to the accuser very quick. Either he will crumble under the scrutiny, or he will refute his claims even further with new evidence. Fabricating evidence as has been claimed is illegal.

So, let me say that if this is proven false that I hope these people are punished under the fullest extent of the law. Lying in any form wrong, whether it be Cochran or this website. I will take any and all responsibility for citing this as a source, if and when these are proven to be false. Otherwise I assume they are true until proven otherwise.

So, I got one that doesn't care if crimes were committed, and one that justifies them by saying everybody does it.

No denials yet.

I'm a Republican, but if this is true, some Republicans need to go to jail.

Thing is, Republicans will call out their own party members if the situation calls for it. If there were more of that, the liars and cheaters would eventually be run out of Washington. It's not acceptable from either party and there is no excuse to cover for corrupt people.

Did you see a phone number in that photo? Idiot? Anybody can send a text, take a picture of it and call it a smoking gun. You teapers are ******* stupid as dirt.

That is a staggeringly naive thing to do.

Seriously, look at this "Reverend's" story. It's way too "good" to be true.

It's got all the elements of a Conservative wet dream story - corrupt Democrats, election fraud, Black people being "tricked" into voting - and most ridiculous of all, playing the Race Card Card in exactly the way that would resonate with the right wing in this country - "He tricked us into thinking the other guy was racist!"

Give me a single real reason to think this isn't pure bullshit.

because you are under oath during a trial...that is why perjury is 100% the wrong word.

Nothing illegal about Cochran having dems vote for him in the runoff. Absolutely nothing.

You need to slow down and take a breath, you are going to have a heart attack. Quit trying so hard to convict Cochran in defense of a racist teaper. Take a deep breath and come back to reality.
