Breaking Bombshell: Obama Released ISIS Leader From Prison In 2009

Isn't this strange? Punditfact declares the story false that Baghdadi was released in 2009.

But in their own article they say "Even if the Colonel is right and Bagdhadi was not set free" contradicting their own claim that the story is most certainly false.
Our ruling

Pirro said that Obama released the current head of ISIS from government custody in 2009. The Defense Department said that the man now known as Baghdadi was released in 2004. The evidence that Baghdadi was still in custody in 2009 appears to be the recollection of an Army colonel who said Baghdadi’s "face is very familiar."

Even if the colonel is right, Baghdadi was not set free; he was handed over to the Iraqis who released him some time later. But more important, the legal contract between the United States and Iraq that guaranteed that the United States would give up custody of virtually every detainee was signed during the Bush administration. It would have required an extraordinary effort to have held on to Baghdadi and there is no evidence that he was on anyone’s radar screen, assuming that he was in custody at all in 2009.

The U.S.-Iraq agreement drove the release of thousands of detainees in 2009, but Obama had nothing to do with that.

We rate the claim False.

Obama supports Islamic terrorists, he only went after UBL because he was the #1 target on the planet and Obama believed killing him would help his poll numbers.

You missed this part:

We either arrested or killed a man of that name about half a dozen times, he is like a wraith who keeps reappearing, and I am not sure where fact and fiction meet,” said Lieutenant-General Sir Graeme Lamb, a former British special forces commander who helped US efforts against al-Qaeda in Iraq. “There are those who want to promote the idea that this man is invincible, when it may actually be several people using the same nom de guerre

bombshell ..... riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Several different men appear in photos of 'him', we are not yet privy to who/they actually are, it appears.

Because they are different people. The Baghdadi with the bounty is not the Baghdadi who was killed or the Baghdadt who was released. One need only look at the photo of the Baghdadi that was released and the Baghdadi with the bounty to see they are not the same person.

Well what do you know, the Baghdadi that was released was released in 2004, not 2009, according to DOD records.

However, when PunditFact asked the Defense Department to confirm the story, officials there said Baghdadi was released in 2004, not 2009.

"Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim Al Badry, also known as ‘Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’ was held as a ‘civilian internee’ by U.S. Forces-Iraq from early February 2004 until early December 2004, when he was released," the Pentagon said in a statement. "He was held at Camp Bucca. A Combined Review and Release Board recommended ‘unconditional release’ of this detainee and he was released from U.S. custody shortly thereafter. We have no record of him being held at any other time."

In short, according to the Defense Department, the man who heads ISIS was released in 2004, long before Obama took office, and was not recaptured.

I blew the shit out of this in another thread. There is no official statement from the Defense Department. For all we know they talked to a janitor.

Neither Slate, nor NBC. nor Daily Beast, nor Daily Mail UK and most importantly nor the BBC has retracted their stories that he was released in 2009.

Get back to me when any one of those media outlets retract their stories or when Punditfact (come on now ) gives us the name of the individual that they talked to at the Defense Department.

Oh and Ed. Please note one other thing.

They come to their conclusion that the story is false correct?

Well if so, why did they go on the rant that "well if the story is true that he was released in 2009 it would still be Bush's fault".

Don't you find that a tad odd? I sure as hell do.

:D
They are all only one story, they all are parroting the Daily Beast. And the Guy the Daily Beast interviewed has no records, just a guess based on a photo of Baghdadi.

Punditfact is a joke for heavens sake. I know who started it and finances it. It's garbage.

Now are you going to actually sit there and have the balls to tell me that BBC is parroting the Daily Beast?

Seriously? Are you fucking kidding me. You must be. Okay you're joking.

The "not important Pirro" surfaces again, yes, one of many al Baghdadis was turned over to the Iraqi government in 2009. ISIS has been around, under differing names, since the invasion, not an overnight uprising. Well financed by Saudi money, as most Islamic terror is.
