Bread lines ARE a good thing; You have to understand them

I think you guys are unfair to Bernie about the bread lines comment. They ARE good.

Poor people need food.
We give food stamps now
Capitalist grocery store occupies that middle ground

All democrat socialism does is remove the corporate greed at the grocery store and hand the “bread” directly to the hungry. And you all OPPOSE that??? Why?

You dumb ass, grocery stores operate on a 3-4% margin. You try that shit you'd wind up with empty shelves and everyone would starve. See Venezuela, they're eating their dogs, ideas like Sanders bankrupted the country.

.
Stalin said that people weren't starving until they ate their children.

Because corporations don't currently have the power to arrest and kill people who disagree with them. If you merge business with government, they will.

No because the rich and privileged would still go to stores. Working class would just get food straight from the govt rather than a for profit middle man
Until the food supply runs out because everyone gets rewarded whether they work or not

Eating isnt a “reward” it’s necessary for staying alive. Literally living. You already pay the govt to feed the working class, why have a middle man?

An orderly and fair collection and distribution system of food for the workforce is a good thing.
You're really a first class moron.

Same goes for education. Student takes out govt loans. Gives it to college. Student is broke and cant pay it back. Govt loses that $$.

Why put students thru that? Just have govt give the $$ to the college, they lose that $$ either way but at least the students arent stuck w debt

College is an investment. An investment is when you take your OWN money, and make plans to get that money back plus a profit. Government should not be giving people money for investments. We are 22 trillion in debt today, we don't need to see that number grow by giving more money away to people that should be providing that money for themselves.

Almost everything good that government does is an investment, such as public education, roads, utilities, defense, etc.
The investments government makes do not just help the individuals, everyone in the whole society.
Industry can not compete with other countries without more higher education, and if you allow the wealthy to have a monopoly on education, you create hereditary dynasties that are inherently corrupt, unfair, and undemocratic.
You also become a 3rd world nation without the skills for the country to compete globally.
So then you have foreign exchange students being subsidized by their government, to come to our country, get a good education, get good US jobs, steal all our propritary intellectual property, and take it back to their country.

But I agree we should just subsidize the colleges.
That is the way it used to be.
I was just paying $100/semester when I went to the best in state, land grant, college.
Now I hear it is more like $15k/semester.

We used to do just that. I remember it quite well. Those on state aid got commodities from the state services office. They either picked it up or in some cases an aid worker delivered it. They got powdered milk, powdered eggs, cheese, flour, sometimes rice, a couple of bricks of lard. Why do you think this program ended? In your opinion it cut out the capitalistic grocery store. It must be superior.

Why? Because any government large enough to give you everything you want, is large enough to take everything you have.

People on the left are always trying to change this country into another country they consider utopia, instead of just moving there themselves. The nice thing about moving to another country is, if you find out it's not what it was cracked up to be, you can always move back to the good ole USA......if your new country let's you. But once you turn this place into one of those countries, and find out it was a bad deal, there will be no other USA to move back to. It will be gone forever.

Nobody in their right mind wants to duplicate failure except a leftist.

Socialism has never failed.
Everything good anyone wants a government to do is always socialism.
It is never for profit.

While government is always with risk of government getting taken over and becoming corrupt, that does not mean we would let blatantly corrupt corporations take over and control us.
At least with government you can vote or rebel.
With corporations in control, you can never do anything.

Failed countries are ones there democracy has been defeated by those working for the profit motive, like Russia.
That is capitalism, not socialism.

The way to lower college tuition is to get the government out. No more student loans. When the government started giving out loans the tuition started rising. The universities had a pipeline to the treasury.

If the government gave the money directly to the college tuition would be $100,000 a semester.

Investment is ownership.

And what is wrong with having some democratic ownership in things that we invest collective capital into?
We did that with the car makers when they were going bankrupt.
It improved society as well as the cars and their makers.
Sweden owns like 25% of Volvo, and that works great.

At least when government invest in your education and then tries to influence you, you have options, like turning down their loan offer.
But if you do not allow government investment, then you enforce economic slavery, bankruptcy, caste systems, dynasties, crime, rebellion, etc.

Have you actually ever worked for a living. Is the person going to bake the bread for free? Is the farmer going to grow it for free? Is the feed and seed store gonna give the seed to him for free? How about the tractor to plow the fields, or the truck to deliver his wheat? Who is gonna give him the gas to be able to use his truck and tractor? You gonna give him the land, pay his power bill? I tell you what when you get your first check, give 80% away, or shut up

Wrong.
Government started giving out student loans in the 50s and it dropped tuition immensely.
It is only after government started making loans harder to get in the 90s, that tuition went up.
The goal should not be anything about loans, but to eliminate the interest debt, so students can afford to repay just the loan, instead of 3 times as much from all the accumulated interest.

No, without government involvement, you have an economic aristocracy that enforces feudalism through denial of work or living needs.

Bernie and his followers need a one way ticket to Venezuela

No. Denmark, Netherlands, etc that’s what we model it after.

HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!
And there it is.
The cost of living in both of those countries is significantly higher than America. AND their taxes are higher also.
The average rent cost in Denmark is 20% higher than America.
The average cost to drive a car in Denmark is 7 times what it cost in America
I can go on.

You should have paid attention to Bernie more, he stopped talking about Switzerland in 2016 when he started getting flack just like above.

But the quality of life in Denmark and Switzerland is vastly higher than the US.
As well as crime being much lower and life expectancy much higher.
So then what is your complaint?
If the cost of living in the US is lower, that just means we are poorer.

Oh boy....

Who said anything about free?
But the point is you do not have to charge more for profit.
Things like tuition now are costing over 20 times what it used to cost, should cost, or would cost even adapted for inflation.
When you have a monopoly, you charge not just what it costs, but as much as possible, and that is unfair.
That can't be allowed.
Teddy Roosevelt was a republican, but he was clear about the unfair abuses of a free market.

Peach is a child. She is filled with stars in the eyes being taken care of. The government would buy the food. The government would take all the money from the rich and buy food for everyone. The government is the primary breadwinner for every person. That's socialism. In reality no one has food. The government takes the money filters it through an expensive and large bureaucracy and there is little left to buy the food.

The government got in education, that's why it's so expensive. Just like with healthcare, there was a time when it was affordable, but then government got into it.
