Bread lines ARE a good thing; You have to understand them

I think you guys are unfair to Bernie about the bread lines comment. They ARE good.

Capitalist grocery store occupies that middle ground

All democrat socialism does is remove the corporate greed at the grocery store and hand the “bread” directly to the hungry. And you all OPPOSE that??? Why?

Why? Because any government large enough to give you everything you want, is large enough to take everything you have.

People on the left are always trying to change this country into another country they consider utopia, instead of just moving there themselves. The nice thing about moving to another country is, if you find out it's not what it was cracked up to be, you can always move back to the good ole USA......if your new country let's you. But once you turn this place into one of those countries, and find out it was a bad deal, there will be no other USA to move back to. It will be gone forever.

Nobody in their right mind wants to duplicate failure except a leftist.

Socialism has never failed.
Everything good anyone wants a government to do is always socialism.
It is never for profit.

While government is always with risk of government getting taken over and becoming corrupt, that does not mean we would let blatantly corrupt corporations take over and control us.
At least with government you can vote or rebel.
With corporations in control, you can never do anything.

Failed countries are ones there democracy has been defeated by those working for the profit motive, like Russia.
That is capitalism, not socialism.
You do know we aren't a democracy and never have been.

Here's a thought.

"Bread lines" means standing in line waiting to buy a commodity that somebody else made, instead of making it yourself. Commodity fetishism means dependence on some commodity-maker, which in turn means dependence upon "income", which means trading one's goods or services for an abstract medium through which one may indulge in commodity fetishism. And we know we must so indulge, for the magic TV box tells us so continuously.

Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.

The distinction between dependence on Corporatia and dependence on Gummint is on the store shelves now, "difference not included". And they go to the same place. Get yours today.

Gotta love the ruthless efficiency of Socialist production

We used to do just that. I remember it quite well. Those on state aid got commodities from the state services office. They either picked it up or in some cases an aid worker delivered it. They got powdered milk, powdered eggs, cheese, flour, sometimes rice, a couple of bricks of lard. Why do you think this program ended? In your opinion it cut out the capitalistic grocery store. It must be superior.

It must be a lot of younger people arguing this point. Those of us who are older remember the free government cheese lines. Sometimes they went a half mile or so. All these pathetic poor people spending their entire day standing in line in the rain, the snow, the hot sun, to get a hunk of cheese. We older folks seen this before--they haven't. It's something I pray we never see again.

It's worse than that. The bread lines Bernie is praising aren't just poor people waiting for food boxes; they're EVERYONE waiting just for a ration of bread because that's all there is.

And we want YOU to know, you Victimhood Champion wanna-be, that we don't care to join in on that - along with everyone else in the nation - just because you learned the wrong lesson in childhood.

No......what you fail to understand is that rationed bread is all they have....because socialism destroys a countries ability to feed it's people.

And you are lucky to have bread, to put your pet cat on to make a sandwich......the less fortunate socialists are eating rats......

Reminds me of a couple of years ago when I made a delivery to a company we frequently dealt with. They moved to a new building and I didn't know where their bathroom was at, so I asked the guy loading me. He told me he wasn't sure if there was toilet paper or not, and explained where it was at.

I told him I didn't need any, I was just going to the bathroom to take my shot. We got into a discussion about diabetes. He was from the Ukraine. He said where he's from, I would never be able to get any insulin unless I knew somebody in the government. So I asked what happens to all their diabetics in Ukraine? He said the government just lets them die.

I may not have a lot of things to be thankful for in life, but I'm so appreciative that God let me be born in the greatest country on the planet.

And they will never understand this no matter how you try to explain it to them..........government control of healthcare does not make it free, cheaper or better......and they just don't get it....

They say...hey, that 18 year old kid in Britain got his broken wrist fixed and it didn't cost anything..........that is their classic example......try to explain that that 18 year old kid will pay crushing taxes his entire life, just to find out in his 50s that he no longer qualifies for that knee or hip replacement....cause the formula they use rules him out.......

That's what I was explaining to Dragonlady. We drivers have BS sessions while waiting to get loaded or unloaded. I always brought up healthcare with Canadian drivers to get their input. The younger and middle-aged drivers loved it. The older ones told me to keep what we have, or we will be very sorry later on in life.

Of course, her experiences are entirely different than all the elderly Canadian drivers I spoke with. Maybe she's lucky I guess?

Yes.....the young don't use the services because they are healthy......they pay for it, with every dollar they earn, but use very little of it..........

After my father's first major stroke, my parents and I had to get some charity food boxes to get by until my mom and I could get things on a better footing. We never bothered with the government boxes, because we didn't have time to waste on making government assistance our full-time job. While we were certainly grateful to the people who donated to help us, the lesson I learned was NOT how wonderful it is to have others take care of you; it was how hard a decent person works to stop needing the help.

Debbie Dumbass learned the wrong lesson.

When we were kids, a friend of mine had a relative from Poland come to the US for a visit. He didn't speak any English. My friend spoke fluent Polish, and he told me his cousin didn't believe we had grocery and convenience stores. He was convinced that our government set all these places up to try and convince him to defect to the United States.

It's hard to believe that people actually lived like that years ago. Now Bernie embellishes the idea.

Socialized medicine is great for ear aches, broken bones, the flu and things like that. I wouldn't want to be in a socialized healthcare system for a heart transplant, cancer, or brain surgery. Some of the younger people I spoke with did have care, but again, very trivial things.

Holy shit...

That is perhaps the dumbest thing I have seen or heard in the past decade.

Until you have experienced a true socialist economy first hand, you have no business preaching about it's so-called benefits or advantages over capitalism.

Of course there's nothing wrong with getting it if you need it. The contents of the food boxes we got were donated voluntarily by people who wanted to help their community. That's what community is FOR. And I was very grateful it was there to help us get back on our feet. As an adult, I have donated generously to church and community groups to give the same help to others.

However, I believe the true mark of successful charity is whether it encourages and enables people to not need it any more. And the bulk of my admiration was not for the "wonders" of handouts, as Debbie Dumbass's seems to be; it was for my parents and their determination to work themselves out of a bad situation.

To me, the most striking difference between the right and the left in this country is that the right assumes people will succeed, whereas the left assumes they will fail.
