People don't hunt for meat as much as in the past except for people in rural areas. It's a good idea though. In Germany the county game wardens keep an accurate account of their deer population and harvest the excess amount periodically. They sell the meat to butchers. I used to order venison often. I see now that in the U.S. many restaurants serve , venison, elk, buffalo and other wild game.
