That's pretty unique. I'd guess the dog doesn't mind at all. Just think of the attention it got while being braided.
Right now, my LGD is in mid-shed. She's got such a heavy coat, I can't even brush her, it's more like thatching. Does she mind me picking her undercoat out by the handful? Hell, no! She loves the attention and the hands-on interaction.
Dogs are wonderfully forgiving souls.

I think the dog just loves all that attention.

Dogs could care less if they are covered in dead hair, mud, sticks or leaves. Hands on is what counts with these totally unjudgmental critters.
