At the risk of returning this thread to the actual topic, let’s ask ourselves, honestly, if we are witnessing, these days, a notable and obvious increase in antisemitic sentiment in our country.

Personally, I’ve seen enough, heard enough and read enough to conclude that it has reared its ugly head these days quite aggressively. And that absolutely includes a sharp rise of anti-Jewish sentiment (by quite a few usual suspects) here at USMB.

This Board will not tolerate racist posts denigrating black people in particular.

But Lisa isn’t wrong in noting that the expression of anti-Jewish rhetoric seems to be perfectly within the Board Rules.

Yes, and that has been my point repeatedly. There is very little tolerance for racists, but a chillingly high level of tolerance for antisemites.

We even have a former mod here who now has been “unleashed” to reveal the full extent of his Jew-hate. He even said that if Iran kills 7 million Jews, it’s not his problem.

Nope. God doesn't alter the Jews. He's going to seal 144,000 Messianic Jews to preach to the Jews. They come from the 12 tribes.
1/3 of the Jews are going to be wiped out by the coming war and then 1/3 of what there is left will also be killed. Only a remnant will remain. They will recognize their Messiah as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah the next time He shows up, and He will remain with them. And God Himself will descend with Heaven to the new Jerusalem, and will live among them and us forever...

Look at the entry that a senior mod made on August 12, 2024 in “Announcements.” She clearly says there will be no tolerance for racist and antisemitic threads or comments, and that this is not a hate site.

What happened between then and now that changed to such an extreme that antisemitic threads (what about the one labeled “Oy, those crafty Jews”) and comments are not only tolerated, but seemingly protected?

This site is reflecting what has happened IRL Antisemites have been empowered to crawl out of the woodwork, actually PROUD of showing how much they hate Jews.

IRL, it’s the influx of Muslims and the money being paid out by antisemitic Islamists. Perhaps that’s what’s happening on social media as well.

Criticizing religion isn't the same as criticizing race. As far as religion, I'm an equal opportunity offender. I rip on the Jews. I rip on the Catholics (even though I was brought up Catholic). I'm completely merciless to the Mormons. (then again, low hanging fruit!) I rip on the Evangelicals.

Now, to anticipate the next question, "Why don't you rip on the Muslims, are you afraid they'll cut off your head?" (Or some such nonsense.)

I don't rip on Muslims for two reasons.

First, I really don't know enough about their faith to make serious theological arguments. Unlike most of you people, I prefer to argue from a position of knowledge.

Secondly, our problem with the Islamic World isn't their religion being any sillier than anyone else's; our problem is that the West has been engaged in 200 years of colonialism and imperialism of their part of the world, and Israel is the last vestige of it.

Don't let Jews panic you since you don't let Muslims panic you.
