Because the UN has been funding the IPCC (and no one else) to research whether or not there is a relationship between human activity and global warming. The UN does not fund climate research and the IPCC does nothing but assess research done by others. The oil industry, on the other hand, has been funding deniers to lie to the public about those results so as to save itself and the profits it's been making for decades.
