Biden's IRS targets small businesses, families

Terrible to hear but a personal anecdote does not an argument make.

People have bad interactions with every agency that exists. IRS, Police, DMV, Doctors, Lawyers, etc etc.

But now you understand that paying your taxes does not mean you have nothing worry about....or did that escape you?

This IRS, however, is not bound by any presumption of innocence. If they believe you owe them money, they can start the collection process and make you prove your innocence. They can garnish your wages or put a lien on your house or business, and there's nothing you can do about it until you prove they're wrong.

And when you owe them money, they compound interest daily. How much interest will that company get for doing without their money?
Im not an accountant so I dont know. I was just relaying what accountants said about IRS being late.

Certainly it could be worrying to some, just like any agency can be worrying to some.

That's not a point, it's common sense.

Do you support defunding the police because sometimes they get it wrong?

I do not support defunding either.

But it is naïve to assume since you do not break the law/pay your taxes you never have anything to worry about.

Agreed, but in that vein it is naive to assume that nothing can ever go wrong.

People and corporations need to pay what they are legally obligated to pay.

Which is why we need to get rid of all tax expenditures.

No more write off for homes or college or kids or anything else.

You make X you pay Y. Two people working the same job making the same amount of money should pay the same amount. One should not be paying more because they are not paying a mortgage or do not have kids.

I agree with this.

A simplified tax code would be great but who is going to do it?

Their is a lot of money flowing around a complex tax system.

Big business does not want 'simplified tax codes'; in fact most of the stuff in the tax codes at all levels is mostly there because some business asked for them. The history of 'free markets' is the history of businesses asking for legislation protecting their interests from other businessmen. That goes for zoning laws and every other civil code you can think of. The myth current Useful Idiots keep parroting is only for those who never read any history or have the first clue where such codes originate and why. All they know is they see those payroll deductions and snivel over how much more booze, dope, and porn they can buy if they weren't paying taxes.

Well, guess what, you're paying those on your wages because rich people pay Congress and state and local pols to push the tax burdens down to the peasants while giving themselves big exemptions and deductions. The fact is, wages and salaries are not real income in the strict economic sense, they're just bartering for your time and skills, no real profits invovled on the part of wage earners. They shouldn't be paying income taxes at all. When you realize that, then all theother rubbish, like 'Fair Tax' scams and the like are all just bullshit built on bogus premises to begin with.

It's not complex at all for those with low to moderate incomes, which are the vast majority of people.
But it can be. Rules for children. Green purchase credits. Donation deductions. Itemized or standard deduction. College payment deductions. Etc etc.

I agree with this.

Well...two Presidents have...Reagan first, with the Tax Reform Act of 1986, which greatly simplified the tax system...then going further Trump did
