According to Tucker Carlson last night, the US had been tracking the balloon since before it came into our airspace.

They should have shot it down long ago, well before it hit Montana, but they could have shot it down over unpopulated Montana as well.

The balloon may have already completed its mission!

If it was a Russian balloon, you can be sure it would have been shot down immediately.

6:30.... "It has the ability to maneuver."

11:20..... "The balloon has changed its course."

20:30... They had the capability to shoot down the balloon before it reached the US and decided not to.

21:00..... The balloon may be dropping sensors. Pentagon would not conifrm or deny.

Pentagon refused to answer most questions.

Notably, every time that he discussed the threat which the balloon poses, he stated that the balloon does not pose a military threat against "people on the ground." You know what that means.
