Biden Proposing 5% Cap on Housing Rents

:puhleeze: I find it amazing that anyone would have the audacity and foolishness to come into a forum thread, and try to dump the BS you're giving us here.

Just because you allow yourself to be DUPED into this age-old crap, total bullshit of expenses causing $1000/month rent increases doesn't mean all the rest of us are stupid enough to swallow that. That might fly for 2010 or 2015, but 2024 ? NO! Not with THESE kind of rent increases. And I'm an ex-New Yorker from the big city. We don't snow easily. 😐

$1000 a month increase? I kinda think you are exaggerating just a tad. All the rest of us are stupid enough to swallow that either. I'm a senior and a renter, and I've seen my rent increase between 10-20%, but $1000? I don't think so. Are there no laws at all in your city or state regarding gouging?

In my view, this should not be a federal issue, there's no basis in the Constitution for that. Did Biden ground his rent control proposal on existing law? I do not believe he can do that with an executive order. I think this is best left to the states and cities to arrive at whatever solution best fits their particular situation.

Yes, that's what it's called - inflation. DUH!!!!!!!!!
Which cannot be brought down by legislative fiat. You can't pass a law saying inflation won't happen. If prices can't go up, the supply disappears, every time.

Don't flatter yourself, moron. The only drivel here is your incessant whining because you didn't prepare yourself adequately for retirement and you're forced to rent. If that is not the case, buy your own place. Oh wait, but then you would have to pay for utilities and maintenance that you want someone else to do. NEWSFLASH, those things cost money and you have to pay your own way.
You're sounding more and more idiotic, with every ensuing post. And I already addressed the "prepare" line. Read the thread, lazy bones.

So what we have now is Biden proposing a strong position that could, over time, put him (or Harris) in the driver's seat in November.

Trump needs to add rent into his "Affordable Housing" (Chapter 4 # 1) in his Platform. And it needs to be a rent cap of less than 5% (preferably 2)

If the gov't implemented rent controls and I was a landlord (fat chance), I would turn my rental into an air bnb and never rent it out long term again. Enjoy your tent.

Wanna bet ? l'll give you the name of the apartment complex I moved out of in 2022, and it was $600/month. Now its $1600 for a renovated apartment.

And no, there ARE NO LAWS regarding gouging, in all the state of Florida. That is what Bden is proposing, and Trump needs to propose iit too,

Prepared--LOL and yet here you are, month after month. OH POOR ME, I HAVE TO PAY MY OWN WAY. THOSE FILTHY DIRTY LANDLORDS ARE GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ARMAGEDDON. LOL, run along skippy.

They have gouging laws in FL, liar. You hear them reported every time a hurricane hits.

Tent ? Well,I suppose you think your living quarters offer more than mine, huh ? Is that what you think ? 🤔

You said they didn't have gouging laws in FL, you did not specify. Regardless, if they have gouging laws for bldg. materials, they would have them for rents if any gouging was going on. STFU and quit whining.
You're wrong. Rent gouging most certainly is going on, and no, there is no law to stop it.

So do you think Trump needs to reciprocate with a rent cap proposal, to parallell Biden's ? He could be losing votes if he doesn't. And you didnt answer regarding my "tent".

Remember that you said those words < "THOSE FILTHY DIRTY LANDLORDS"

After losing my entire 4 years of college to Affirmative Action discrimination, I painstakingly, learned a trade, and got skilled jobs paying better than minimum wages.

I also played guitar in a rock band, to help me through the bad times.

Later, on zero startup capital, I opened up my own business, and did quite well there. A lot of my savings got wiped out when I moved from California to Florida.

I never relied on others.
Yet you said you live on a pension and social security. When Clinton was found raiding the Social Security lockbox and it was said it would run out of money, that was when i took the risk into investing heavily into the stock market...

I was already investing, but knew that my retirement would be either successful by me, or bust by me, not someone else. Because of it, i have done very well.

Did you complain when during Covid, renters were able to skip a few payments?

Rent gouging most certainly is going on
Because you say so? LMAO

If you think taxpayers or landlords are going to subsidize your rent because of your incessant whining, a tent is where you are going to end up. Now twist yourself into another pretzel pretending you don't understand common English. Moron.
Remember that you said those words < "THOSE FILTHY DIRTY LANDLORDS"
Does it hurt when you twist yourself up in a pretzel and misconstrue a statement? Run along, you're nothing more than a common degenerate lying democrat and that post ^^^ proves it.

Sounds cool. Glad you came out of it good. Keep up the good work.

I'm selling artwork & music lessons, but these have gone down since the rents have gone up + gas + food, you know the rest. People just don't have the purchasing power they used to have.

That’s what worked for many decades in America. The problem now more than ever even more so compared to 10 years ago is the astronomical price of a home coupled with the interest rates on loans tripling under Joe Biden.

If it’s not a cap, we need to bring back the American middle-class and get better jobs in this country like we used to have throughout much of the 20th century
And a few years ago, there was 11 million less illegal aliens being shuffled around the US at 4am. Where do you think they are going to live, Martha's Vineyard?

What i am saying is you are going to have to suffer a little while longer, and hope the 2024 election doesnt get stolen like it did in 2020. With a new President, he will get energy prices down, which food prices will follow, and then other goods and services will follow.
