Children don't have those, remember? If you take that view of the 1st Amendment, would you support the right of the KKK to hold a rally on the steps of a school building with kids inside attending class, or would you recoil from that and say it should be illegal?Freedom of speech and expression, bitches!
Schools typically don't provide parents with their kids' browsing history while they're at school. Maybe they should.
Guy, not only can the KKK gather and march in public, you can also send children to schools named after slavers! Imagine that!Children don't have those, remember? If not, they're clearly having their 1st Amendment rights infringed upon. That is my point, we make all kinds of expression illegal when it comes to exposing children.Depends. Can others do so also? If so, yes. If not, no. That's how it works.
Of course it will. The porn industry isn't spending money to fight against something unless that something will cause them to loss money. This law is pointless because it won’t limit anything.
That's not what I said, is it?Guy, not only can the KKK gather and march in public, you can also send children to schools named after slavers! Imagine that!![]()
We took cigarettes out of vending machines for a reason. We require ID checks to purchase alcohol for a reason.
We pass laws making it illegal to sell certain otherwise legal products to children for a reason. Now, we know that nothing is foolproof, and kids are always going to circumvent most restrictions, but the state has a legitimate purpose in making it more difficult for children to access this.
We're not trying to "solve the issue", we're trying to protect children a little more from this stuff. Laws against speeding don't stop speeding, but we keep them, and they help keep most drivers at relatively the same speed.

It's in the spirit of it, isn't it? You seem to be delicate over the KKK expressing themselves freely in public as the first amendment allows but are OK with children going to schools named after Robert E Lee. It calls into question the veracity or your argument. Kind of seems this is just personal instead of any coherent and consistent political belief. That's not what I said, is it?
Porn is free on the internet and so widely available they can’t possibly enforce the law against even the tiniest fraction of websites.Of course it will. The porn industry isn't spending money to fight against something unless that something will cause them to loss money.
Purchases of tobacco and alcohol are done in person, not online.
So why is the porn industry wasting money fighting against a law that will do nothing?Porn is free on the internet and so widely available they can’t possibly enforce the law against even the tiniest fraction of websites.
So why is the porn industry wasting money fighting against a law that will do nothing?
And why have large porn site removed access from states that have pass ID laws?
And when you purchase porn online you have to go through the same verification process. You can buy vape stuff online and have to provide ID.
Can it technically be called the porn industry if what they are selling are ads, rather than porn? The porn they are giving away on these websites. So why is the porn industry wasting money fighting against a law that will do nothing?
And why have large porn site removed access from states that have pass ID laws?
There’s more sites than that, including many websites hosted in other countries that don’t give a damn about Texas laws.So why is the porn industry wasting money fighting against a law that will do nothing?

Nanny state
And why are they not done online? Obviously to restrict access to them.Purchases of tobacco and alcohol are done in person, not online. And ID is required to prove age. Also, the sales clerk can be charged if they sell to someone underaged, and they KNOW that.
And maybe we should be moving in the direction of requiring said age verification.Asking someone if they're over 18 when they log into a website has NEVER stopped anyone anywhere from accessing porn. Nobody is demanding proof of age, or questioning anyone who claims to be over 18, when they're obviously NOT.
And maybe we should be moving in the direction of consequences for websites knowingly allowing children access. What happens to the website or its owners, if websites let underage viewers in?? Nothing??? What is the point of passing a law you cannot enforce? Other than to pretend to your low intelligence voters that you're DOING SOMETHING to protect children when you're NOT.
And maybe we should be moving in that direction. Churches certainly do, at least the reputable one do.Protecting children would require background checks and police reports on everyone leading a kid's program. Also, Republicans are very focussed on saving young boys from predation by gay men, and predation on young boys by gay men isn't the biggest problem.
And the entire democrat focus appears to be encouraging the exploitation of children, to decriminalize said exploitation. See how that works? In this case, we're talking about children's access to online pron. Please keep up.The vast majority of pedophiles are straight men preying on young girls. Girls and women are 7 times more likely to be sexually abused, assaulted or preyed upon than young men, but the entire Republican focus is on keep gay men away from boys.
Sounds like we really need to police sexual assaults on children. Now, can we get back on topic?Even worse, the conviction rate is so low as to be laughable. Sexual abuse victims are TERRIBLE witnesses. They've been trained to lie about everything from day one. To keep the secret. They act out in terrible ways, which can best be described as "There were no limits on what was done to them, and there are no limits on what they will do".
The abuse victims become prostitutes, drug abusers, who blame themselves for their trauma. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, are you going to believe this lying, drug addicted prostitute, or this upstanding citizen, community volunteer, and family man???
Every convicted pedophile has amassed, on average, more than 200 victims, before they're ever arrested.
So take the next step, require actual proof of age before allowing access. No, you're not. You're trying to deceive yourself into thinking you're doing something about the problem, when you're really not doing anything.
And maybe we should be moving in that direction. We expect parents to teach their kids better values, but we arrest the drug dealer hanging out at the playground. Why not actual penalties for kids accessing adult sites? We can figure out how to do it, or at least move in that direction.Breaking speeding laws has consequences. There are cops out their waiting to catch you because they're on a quota. Their raises and promotions are dependent on how many charges they lay, and the amount of revenue they bring in via traffic fines.
Nobody's waiting to catch the kid sneaking into the porno sites. Those sites are exploiting young people, not looking to watch out for them. There are no consequences for these sites if kids get in, because it's up to the parents to teach their kids better values.
Of course, it has, which is why I'm in favor of making it less easily accessed by minors. You should be as well, yet I see you arguing against even the smallest step in that direction, primarily I believe due to the source of that step.Has it ever occurred to you that the misogyny and sexual entitlement we see by men towards women these days, may be the result of generations of young men and women having the easy availability of porn on the internet???
