Hopefully this will should jump-start the industry on self-preservation methods such as dehydrating and canning.

If we could just get back to the Caveman Days, or at least the Pioneer Days, the world would be saved.
Nothing like a wood fire to warm you/ A wash board and brown soap to wash clothes at the creek. or drying the wet clothes on the line in the sun. They say that sunlight is the best disinfectant....

leftist tyranny .

You realize it was Congress who passed the laws that are being carried out by the regulatory agencies to increase the efficiency of nearly every product right?
And Biden couldn't veto these laws. I would also like to know how the votes where split along party lines. I'm betting this crap got an overwhelming vote of yes from Democrats.

Saving on fuel doesn't mean much when you have to pay many thousands more for the electric car.

Saving on water and home energy doesn't mean much when you have to pay many thousands more for the appliances and/or the appliances are nowhere nearly as efficient or effective as the old ones were.

Already consumers know that the appliances they buy now do not have the stamina and useful life of their forerunners even though the new ones cost two, three, four times as much as the old ones did.

Our first microwave was a small Litton spacesaver one that was still running flawlessly after 30 years. We finally donated it to a homeless shelter so that it could be replaced with a newer more modern model. We have since replaced the replacement three times as they just don't last like the old ones did. (They are quite a bit cheaper now than that original one was though.)

Biden and our other fearless leaders should stop and use common sense sometimes. At least look at the bad consequences of what they are mandating for us. The best system is the free market capitalist system that finds ways to provide the best products that people want and are willing to pay for. And competition sees to it that the products work as advertised.

One major quibble. Nothing was “enacted” at all.

Lol, your dumb ass will believe anything. Presidents don't write laws Congress does. Soon that would gave had to make it past a republican controlled house.

Beginning in the 1970s, Congress enacted a series of laws that established or directed the Department of Energy (DOE) to establish energy-efficiency standards for certain appliances and commercial equipment. In addition, DOE is required to review existing standards for covered products at least once every six years and to set standards at levels that achieve the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is "technically feasible and economically justified." Transparency and public participation are important parts of all rulemakings.

Congress does not write much in the way of regulations. Those are pretty much at the discretion of the President and/or the bureaucrats he puts in charge of the various government departments. Biden owns these dictates. You can't put them off on Congress.

Stop it! You're not blaming Biden. Get with the message from the people who live in tree houses.

But reality is the adults are looking for a better future for -- The Children.

You do know that the DOE is a government agency under direction of a cabinet member who serves at the pleasure of and answers directly to the President, yes?

Yes. Together they are Keeping America Great
If you think what they are doing together is great in any shape or fashion, I really fear for your sanity. It's probably a good thing you are leaving before you lose what's left of your cognitive abilities.

"the standards would save consumers $36.4 billion over 30 years of shipments and result in cumulative emission reductions of nearly 101 million metric tons of carbon dioxide"

Oh, great, so it's going to cost me $200 more per fridge to save $3.50 per year.

They literally justify this based on carbon dioxide reductions, and they refer to it as "investing in America."
