The Biden administration appears to be poised to falter in their prudent leadership on the Russia invading Ukraine problem because they plan to announce sanctions against Russia over Vladimir Putin's remarks to send Russian troops into the separatist areas of Ukraine to act as peacekeepers. This is so foolish because this action by the U.S. government is going to provoke Putin to send his army past the separatist area borders and take more of the sovereign territory of Ukraine and the crisis will just snowball with more serious sanctions against Russia and people throughout the world will end up paying for the macroeconomic effects of the ultimate and total package of sanctions. Prudent leadership calls for prioritizing and especially looking at the big picture long-term the White House should be trying to show as much restraint as a good government can to not mushroom this conflict to any significant higher levels because the stakes involved are not only a lot of human lives but widespread pain throughout the world. Listen the Russian army has been in the separatist areas for the last seven years, the two main battles in that region the Battle of Ilovaisk and the Battle of DeBaltseve the separatist won because the Russian military intervened on their behalf. Let us not make the problem worst, Vladimir Putin will not live forever a just future Russian leader will recognize that the Donetsk and Luhansk Separatist leaders were murders and had no legitimacy to legally take sovereign territory of the country of Ukraine and return that territory to Ukraine. The White House should just leave the response on this development with the President's Executive order barring business activity with this Separatist region.

It seems like what is happening now is President Biden and his advisors are leading the country by holding up their fingers and seeing which way the political winds are blowing in Washington and going in that direction they are not factoring in that rank and file members of Congress have campaigning on their mind and so they want to look strong against the evil Russian regime but that is no way for a White House to conduct foreign policy on a matter with the utmost gravity like this current matter. Also, the White House seems to be trying to run from the Afghanistan withdrawal catastrophe by having President Biden appear strong they need to stop their focus on appearance of strength and be strong and hold the line on not making matters worse. Further, the White House is being manipulated by the Media here the Media keeps throwing in the White House's face well the President said if Russia sends one troop over the sovereign border of Ukraine that will trigger sanctions, sending in Russian troops into the separatist region violates President Putin's red line is the President going to follow through on his words will he protect his credibility. The White House should respond to that clever position by the Media by responding the American public knew he was talking about the uncontested areas of sovereign Ukraine not the Separatist areas!

The White House is poised to do sanctions and thereby be treating Vladimir Putin as a very reasoned person which he isn't. He has this exaggerated view of Russia where he believes that he is the caretaker of Russia's supremacy in World History that Russian culture is a dominant culture in world history and its leaders are meant to be major players in ruling the world. Vladimir sees the residents of the Separatist region of Ukraine as Russian citizens and he will see it as a breach of his duty as a Russian leader to be intimidated into not protecting these Russian citizens which he will perceive the effect of the Washington sanctions as trying to achieve. Washington doing what the media has reported them contemplating doing they will have guaranteed a Russian invasion into the Donbas region of Ukraine. This will be a catastrophe for the world!

You mentioned Biden advisors. Good point. You never know what sort of advice he is getting.

We should not provoke Putin.

US domestic politics is playing a bit part that sounds good on the surface, but it will soon evaporate away as everybody lines up in support of the US led proxy war that's intended to cripple Russia and advance US/Nato geographic positioning.

You really are a stooge for Putin. Yesterday you created a thread not to sanction Russia prior to an invasion, and today it's not to sanction
Russia after the invasion.
I'm not expecting a response from you as you posted yesterday and just left the building. I'm expecting the same from you today.

You sound more like a paid Moscow stooge.

Russia/Putin still maintains some deniability considering that Russia's military is on a peacekeeping mission.

A peacekeeping mission that could be compared to the US/Nato peacekeeping mission to Kosovo in 99, in which civilians deliberately stood out in the open under US bombs!

The great two-sided divide of the world is being created and it appears that China understand what side it's bread is buttered on.

Can Russia's peacekeeping force be either complimented or replaced by the UN?

It's not an invasion yet, but it will be when Putin takes the entire Donbass.

Putin invaded Ukraine and I feel like I am the one being punished for it.
Russia didn't interfere in all of America's wars so why should America interfere if Russia needs to have a war. After all, Russia is only asking for secure borders.

If you can't speak up against America's wars, you deserve to be punished.

There were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq
NATO is a defensive alliance
Its bases do not threaten Russia
And the laboratories in Ukraine just studied birds
