Holy smokes, this is who he is basing his champagne on. see any difference from his platform he's running on? There is no difference on what Hillary is running on. that makes up the whole so called, Democrat, which should be the Socialist party of the United States. this needs to be shown as a Republican ad.

In 1985, while he was the mayor of Burlington, VT, Bernie Sanders gave an interview to the local cable access network during which he praised Fidel Castro for educating his people and giving them healthcare.

CNS News reported:

Sanders in 1985: Castro ‘Educated Their Kids, Gave Their Kids Health Care, Totally Transformed Society’

During the interview, Sanders discussed his recent trip to Nicaragua, marking the sixth anniversary of the Sandinista revolution, and drew parallels between Castro’s regime and the Nicaraguan Sandinista regime of Daniel Ortega.

“In 1961, [America] invaded Cuba, and everybody was totally convinced that Castro was the worst guy in the world,” said Sanders.

“All the Cuban people were going to rise up in rebellion against Fidel Castro. They forgot that he educated their kids, gave their kids health care, totally transformed society,” he said.

“You know, not to say Fidel Castro and Cuba are perfect – they are certainly not – but just because Ronald Reagan dislikes these people does not mean to say the people in these nations feel the same,” continued Sanders.

Man that's almost as bad as if his father had fought and killed for Castro during the revolution like Ted Cruz's dad.

We hate cuba why?

Bernie makes more sense than righties who want to put cuba back in a cage .
So you support their totalitarian dynasty?

No. The best way to combat that is to open up their people to what's out there . They will demand change .

But let's not pretend that "totalitarian dynasty" is some red line for us . We do business and are even good friends wh horrible dictators all over the planet. That excuse is total bullshit .

Obviously you are clueless to how an socialist utopia country like Cuba makes for a miserable existence, if one lives through it.

Hell, the guy he revolted against was a US backed authoritarian if im not mistaken..
How can you open up the people when they are ruled by a dictator?

Maybe like we are now? Where the citizens spend 2 days salary on 1 hour of internet access that is probably regulated to the point of nonexistence?

Obviously, ignorant RWs still don't know what Democratic Socialism is.

That's especially funny coming from Stoopid Stuff because, without it, she would be on the street.

Dumb as a stick.

you and your rightes? do you know anything else? If you don't get the thread, ask someone

Well, he was talking about education and healthcare being provided by the country as being a good thing, and he's right.

Germany has national health care and they are moving towards making college free to anyone who wants it, up to a bachelor degree. Does that make Germany bad as well?

And besides...............the world has changed DRAMATICALLY since 1985. Maybe instead of clinging bitterly to outdated ideas, maybe we should all evolve a little bit and see things for what they really are rather than just political fuel to attack the opposition with.

The views I held in 1985 have seriously changed. In 1985 I was only 21.

I can't confirm this, but Sanders may also have said "I think the Stones are way cooler than the Beatles."

Can anyone here show what impact his statement made on...well, anything? Did Reagan hear him say this and say "Migod, we've been wrong all along! We must embrace Comrade Fidel as our brother!" and end the sanctions? No? Then surely there must have been some other impact. No?

Now, an action, such as Sanders' voting against the Brady Bill, has had a profound impact on the number and type of weapons some of you swagger around with. And this is how you thank him?

Actions v Words...hmm...

It's amusing watching some of you desperately digging for "dirt," but is this the best you can do? Maybe you'd be better off starting another 16 "OMG, SHE LIED! WE HAVE NO PROOF, BUT WE KNOW SHE LIED BECAUSE SHE LIED BECAUSE WE KNOW..." threads.
