So why did Fitzgerald let a cloud hang over White House adviser Karl Rove's head for so long? And why is Fitzgerald continuing to hound Libby, the former vice presidential chief of staff?

The answer seems to be that Armitage, who is charged with nothing and brags that he hasn't even consulted a lawyer, was former Secretary of State Colin Powell's right-hand man and a critic of pre-emptive war in Iraq.

Libby, on the other hand, was an architect of that war strategy. Do doves get a pass in Fitzgerald's book, while hawks get an indictment?

Armitage was a low level scum bag who helped orchestrate the abandonment of POW/MIA's in Vietnam after the war and all during the 80's. Fitzgerald's target was the VP, Cheney. Libby was forced to fall on the sword to save Cheney, but everyone knew it was Cheney in charge. So a Bush Administration official was convicted of being a liar. That is history and will always be history. It took a pardon to keep him quite. Cheney's top man is a convicted liar who lied to save the VP Cheney from being charged with committing an act of treason.

There had been many requests for more security because of warnings of an attack. No security was added. Hell. The Red Cross and the Brits pulled out because of those same warnings.

As to the stand down? Troops were ready to rock and roll and were told they had to wait for the permission to be given via Libya. There should have been a fast response team ready to go as well.

All the administration did was try to blame a damned video. A story they stuck to for weeks. Apparantly that fucks re-election was more important than four dead men one of whom was an ambassador.

The whole thing was an abject failure by the State Department run by Hilary. You know the old bat who wants to be POTUS. Hate to think of her as the one in charge. She couldn't even run State.
