of course they are to the right of democrats,,but in this country they are to the left of the constitution which sets the center of our political scale as set up by the founders,,,
the founders researched as many past governments as they could and first tried the articles of confederation that was close to anarchy and as we know that failed and later came back and constructed the current constitution,,
far left is total government (choose your poison) and far right is total anarchy, the constitution sets pretty much in the middle and that makes republicans left wing,,,
Interesting view of the difference between right and left but it's not historically correct.

The terms "left" and "right" appeared during the
French Revolution of 1789 when members of the
National Assembly divided into supporters of the king to the president's right and supporters of the revolution to his left.
[7] One deputy, the Baron de Gauville, explained: "We began to recognize each other: those who were loyal to religion and the king took up positions to the right of the chair so as to avoid the shouts, oaths, and indecencies that enjoyed free rein in the opposing camp".
[8]
When the National Assembly was replaced in 1791 by a
Legislative Assembly comprising entirely new members, the divisions continued. "Innovators" sat on the left, "moderates" gathered in the centre,
while the "conscientious defenders of the constitution" found themselves sitting on the right.
At the furthest extreme on right is the Constitution. There's no alt-right, there's nothing to the right of the Constitution. Claims from the left that racists and white supremacists are right-wing extremists are lies and projections. Claims that anarchists are far-right is a lie. Anarchists are the left - they're destroyers of the Constitution and our way of life, every bit as much as are the socialists and the communists.
By accepting the left's projection and twists that there is evil to the right, or such a thing as the alt-right, is only intended to put limits on just how constitutionally conservative a conservative can be. Push the limits, hold fast to the Constitution, and you're not a conservative or right-wing; you're an extremist... That's the lie they tell to keep you from wanting to be called a right-wing extremist.
I'm a constitutional conservative. I am as right-wing as it is possible to be right wing. There is no one more right-wing than me and I'm not ashamed of being right-wing nor do I need to soften my opinions out of fear that some socialist, anarchist, racist, or other leftist, might label me a right-wing extremist. I AM a right-wing extremist. I'm a constitutionalist.
