I do not drink wine, rum mostly sometimes vodka or tequila.

Putting that aside, Americans are crass, pretty much always have been. The stereotype of the "ugly American" is based on reality.

I am neither a liberal nor an elitist, I am a Parrot Head living out his dream retirement. Things like "left vs right" and "liberal vs conservative" have no meaning in my life any longer.

At one time I would have agreed that America's strong points did outweigh its drawbacks, but that is no longer the case. I am not even sure that the US has any strong points at this stage of the game.
