Aren't all musical groups artificially constructed?
I'd say the only "organic" boy bands I know of are the Jackson 5 and The Osmond Brothers.

And isn't that what all bands are in it for? Profit........and fame?

To me, a boy band is any all male group of two or more that started in their teens to their 20's, doing pop, bubble gum, or club/dance music.

Read this book if you want to understand how an "organic," boy band forms.

These guys wrote, and preformed their own stuff, and would have done it, whether they were getting attention and money, or not.

They did it because they loved doing it.

They paid their dues, a lot of them.
