Axing Jimmy Kimmel Is Government Suppression of Political Speech!

What happened to Jimmy Kimmel with him being taken off the air for his comments surrounding Charlie Kirk in his opening monologue is alarming because it will suppress comments of other late night and daytime talk show hosts and comedians in so far as pressuring them not to say anything that is or can be construed as critical of the current Presidential administration because there may be severe personal and business repercussions for doing so. This is bad for America's Democracy because if suppression of political speech which this is in at least a broad sense is allowed to exist in one sector of society it will have a contagion to suppress political speech in other settings and this will result in our government not being as good as it should because avoiding legitimate criticism motivates people in government to act in a good and best manner. This action against Jimmy Kimmel is simply an intolerable assault on our Democracy and our way-of-life!

What Jimmy said in his monologue was not encouraging or supporting political violence they were attempts to find humor in the situation, one may find it tasteless and not funny but nevertheless it was speech whose only purpose was to try to be humorous! Supporters of this outcome say there was nothing wrong here Jimmy's employer ABC is free to fire and hire who they want and they chose to fire Jimmy. No No No this is not the whole story government action inappropriately got involved in this situation. Brendan Carr, Chairman of the FCC which regulates TV stations, publicly essentially said that the TV station needs to act in this situation and discipline Jimmy Kimmel or the FCC will commence an investigation and bring sanctions against this late-night talk show employer over this matter. In essence what the chairman of the FCC did in this instance is that it suppressed political speech on this late-night talk show program and this is a dangerous precedent that should not be able to stand!

Before suggesting what America should do to stop this assault on political speech it really bears mentioning what is going on here. President Donald Trump our current President has a major flaw in his character in so far as he uses the levers of power of the Presidency to penalize people and organizations he doesn't like.
In the instant case he is using the FCC to penalize a late-night comedian that criticized him and got under his skin. This is just speculation on this writer's part gleaned from videos of Trump and Charlie Kirk together but I think Jimmy hit a nerve implying President Trump wasn't too affected by Charlie's assassination because I don't think President Trump really liked Charlie the President doesn't like people to tell him what to do and Charlie because of his popularity amongst America's youth could to a large degree tell the President he shouldn't do this or should do that and Charlie was ultra-Conservative, deep down President Trump isn't an ultra-Conservative he is a real estate and marketing mogul Playboy from New York!

This definitely won't happen because President Trump is President but what America should do is pass a law that says any radio, TV and video outlet that receives a fine and/or sanctions by the FCC that penalizes an entity over political speech that entity has the right to sue the FCC to block it and whether or not it goes to court or is settled before hand the suing organization will get all its legal and defense fees paid for if the case goes to trial and the plaintiff prevails the entity will get ten million dollars or three time the financial penalty the FCC was seeking up to fifty million dollars. The law should also explicitly say that grounds for impeachment for the Chairperson and any member of the Commission of the FCC are if they support an investigation and/or vote for penalties against a business that is about suppressing political speech. What the American people should do to fight this suppression of political speech is call for the removal from their jobs of three people in authority in ABC and Nextstar that are highly culpable in this hit job on Jimmy. These three cowards should not only lose their jobs but should be blackballed in corporate America the message should be sent to executives in the media industry that you have a civil duty to stand up for free speech especially political speech and there will be grave consequences to caving to bullies in Washington D.C.!

Republicans in Congress are cowards and won't stand up to President Trump and call for this type of legislation. But Democrats should call for this legislation and commit that once they get control of Congress and the White House they will enact it so to stop any future President that wants to be an authoritarian President like Donald Trump from being able to do so! On a separate subject it has been reported in the media that the Democrats are prepared to shut down the government over the funding of the government bill if it does not contain provisions extending the enhanced health insurance premium subsidies for individual health insurance that are set to expire this year. I think this is an outstanding right move by the Democrats with the one proviso; Democrats don't make this stand on the seven week continuing resolution bill Republicans are pushing. Shutdowns are very painful for the nation let the Republicans postpone the fight for seven weeks in November of this year Americans will still be getting the enhanced premium subsidies then. It is an extremely righteous cause fighting for the enhanced premiums this affects twenty-two million Americans and if the subsidy isn't continued the average health insurance premium will be going up seventy-five percent, to be candid many of these American families just won't have the money to pay this higher health insurance bill! The political realities highly favor the Democrats goal here some Republicans have voiced support for the continuation and the closer we get to January 1, 2026 more Republicans will come aboard because that is what their constituents want!
He wasn’t fired by the govt

Congress can’t do anything about it

Absolutely there was not just some pressure, but outright THREAT from FCC.

You'll be a full-grown sovereign citizen by the time we get through with you. :laughing0301:

Maybe it's time to buy yourself a little three-cornered hat and a musket. But be warned: We have F-16s and nukes, Liberty Boy.

I didn't read the whole thread because it's mostly dimocrap FILTH lies and whining.

But did anybody mention that it was Local Affiliates that buried Jimmy The Lying ********** Kimmel?

Hundreds of local Stations refused to air his lying, filthy, dimocrap SCUM bullshit.

It was then that the Network stepped in TO SAVE ITS OWN ASS.

Kimmel is a pile of shit. A complete and total piece of human garbage.

No wonder dimocrap FILTH voters love him. Birds of a Feather

You don't get to slander. Again - you guys seem to think that free speech comes with a guarantee of no repercussions for saying it.
He stood there and just flat out lied about Kirk's killer. And then went on a diatribe against Trump that is slanderous and lying.
Freedom of Speech protects him from going to jail.
It doesn't protect him from consequences other than jail.

Why did you put the word "fruitcakes" in quotes?

Seriously? Do I need to change your diaper too?

Either figure it out, or the conversation is over, I'm not your mother feeding a 2 month old.

Jimmy got his start looking up girls' dresses as they jumped on trampolines. Somewhere along the line, his fucked-up brand of politics and philosophy evolved from that. I guess the network didn't like the fact that his audience were dummies with little or no money.

I firmly believe that the Groomer Network (of children) owned by the biggest Groomers of all -- Disney, wouldn't have done anything had it not been for the rebellions of the Affiliates.

It's convoluted but the Networks don't really get that much oversight. The Networks don't even answer to the FCC, AFAIK. But the Affiliates DO.

The entire Country has had it with lying, stinking, filthy dimocrap SCUM.

CBS is going to rid itself of its Woke garbage collectors and spewers. The rest will follow suit. The days of the DISGUSTING FILTH lying to and manipulating the American People are coming to an end.

Not the way I wanted it to end, but it's ending nonetheless.

I had a disease one time that I didn't miss once it went away. We'll miss you even less than that.

Pretty much what the Trump regime has been doing to the broadcast media

Holding their FCC license hostage.

9 hours ago — The firing of Jimmy Kimmel comes amid Nexstar's $6.2 billion merger with Tegna, which requires FCC approval. Nexstar, which is seeking FCC .........

Brendan Carr, chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and a Trump appointee, said Kimmel’s remarks represented “the sickest conduct possible” and called on Disney to take action. He said that broadcasters have obligations under their FCC licenses to act in the public interest and suggested stronger action could follow if companies failed to respond. Carr said a public apology from Kimmel would be a “reasonable, minimal step.”

Sickest conduct possible?

Kimmel, known for his sharp monologues, drew backlash during his Monday night show when he said the “MAGA gang” was trying to use Kirk’s murder for political gain. He also mocked the decision to fly flags at half-mast for Kirk and criticised the president’s reaction, calling it childish. “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish,” Kimmel said.

So much more work to do. Other shows need to be shitcanned also.

Does the Constitution say "fruitcakes" don't have freedom of speech?
You people really need to learn what freedom of speech means.

it does NOT mean that a private company must continue to employ someone who is damaging their reputation and costing them money.

Besides, didn’t you all defend companies firing or refusing to promote Trump voters? As I recall, you said “freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences.”

I would much rather see Kimmel self-destruct by people seeing through his crap and having it play that way, but this isn't happening here now. People actually seek this kind of crap from extremists of all kinds to validate their already skewed thinking. I think it's overreach from the FCC but I also think there's a lot of manipulation that we aren't aware of, or the media wouldn't be as slanted as it is. Freedom of speech means you can express and opinion, but you also have to remember that you don't have to believe every nugget that you hear or see. It also shouldn't be used as justification for stupidity.

In a shocking moment on Fox News on the morning of September 10, Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade apparently advocated for the killing of mentally ill homeless people during a discussion.

He also suggested it could be done through “involuntary lethal injection.”

Corporations are relieved to be able to act in their own best interests rather than kowtow to leftist demands.

You think they really LIKED have to put up posters of a violent, ex-felon drugged-out deadbeat-dad in the windows of their storefronts? You think they LIKED having to skip over the most qualified in order to meet a “black quota” - which hapoened in the majority of cases?

Note: for the leftists ready to pounce, claiming I said that blacks are not the most qualified, you will note I said in the MAJORITY of cases. That’s because the majority is white, and when you skip over them in order to hire a non-white, you are not getting the most qualified in the majority of cases.

The FCC has a lot of work to do cleaning up these broadcast networks
The FCC has no power over the Networks. Only over the Affiliates.

Their reasoning is -- The Networks don't broadcast directly to the Public. They broadcast to their Affiliates who then broadcast to the Public. At least, that's what I understand. It's the goobermint. Go figure

But The Networks aren't licensed. Only the Affiliates are licensed.

And that's where this whole brou-ha-ha started. A bunch of Affiliates got tired of the LYING Piece of total Garbage Kimmel lying his filthy communist ass off and they pre-empted his shit-show.

Then the Network stepped in ONLY TO SAVE ITS OWN ASS.

Like Disney gives a FLYING **** about lying to America and Americans? Hell NO.

They care only about the revolution among their Affiliates
