You are/were a teacher. What other degrees are similar to teaching degrees. We need apples to apples comparisons. I don't think we can compare an elementary school teacher to a PhD in nuclear science.

Yes, but that teacher has 24 1st graders and she's teaching them all to read. Three are at 4th grade level, but she has to find material appropriate for their age. 12 are on grade level, great. 10 are behind, including 3 who barely know their letter sounds.

Babysitters in this nation average $25/hour.

She's a beginning teacher making $30. No wonder they're all quitting, all the new teachers.

All you fellow conservatives are supposed to be free market sorts. If teaching is so great, with great pay, benefits and time off, we would have an overload of people who want the job.

I posted the chart - for northern Virginia. They get $100,000 by mid-30s, and top out at $124,000. (And the chart goes up every year.)

I’m just showing that many teachers are earning upper-middle class salaries - even with summers off.

The problem isn’t the salary. The problem is the unruly kids and the “woke” curriculum, as liberals see the public school system as a way to indoctrinate kids. Here where I live, there’s an awful anti-Israel agenda and as a result antisemitism has skyrocketed.

I have to develop Lesson Plans
My Algebra teacher used the same lesson plan he used ten years ago with minor revisions
My English teacher used the same lesson plan for Hamlet or Crime and Punishment she used for ten years

Grading papers.
Everything is on computers now and auto graded.
Multiple choice tests

Teachers in my school had free periods where they could catch up on work and were only at school for seven hours

1). Which State
2). Which County in that State.

Teachers in Western Washington are paid quite well.
Teachers in small Eastern Washington towns are paid quite a bit less. Like 40% Less.

Every PE teacher was an athletic coach in my schools. The made up maybe 5% of the total. I coached for 9 years as a math and history teacher.
