Average teachers pay vs average pay.

Teachers earn more than those they have educated. So why do they complain about their pay?

Teachers: $66,000
Their graduates: $61,000
Plus the nice pensions and perks they get (UK speaking).

No, but I do wear my sleep pants to get the newspaper in my driveway.

Why don't you get off your little(?) ass and get society to change to your liking? I have never seen anyone ***** so much and lie about their life experiences as much as you.

I retired years ago, thank you. How will you force parents to dress their kids now when I couldn't do it when I was a teacher starting in 1996. Good luck!
I did my part by helping vote in Trump.

Everyone needs to quit bitching about what other people make or what benefits they have

You’re jealous of teachers having so much time off? Quit bitching and become a teacher then

You’re a teacher who feels underpaid? Quit bitching and find another job

I feel the same way as a nurse

You’re a CNA who feels like you do all the grunt work and the nurses make so much more? Quit bitching and go to nursing school

You’re a LPN who’s bitter that the RNs do the same job as you for more money? Quit bitching and go back for your RN

The market pays people what the market demands. And we all have the opportunity to go to school and pursue whatever career we want. No one has the right to complain about it

That site is complete BS and you knew it when you posted it.
You are/were a teacher. What other degrees are similar to teaching degrees. We need apples to apples comparisons. I don't think we can compare an elementary school teacher to a PhD in nuclear science.

Generally, teachers have arsehole personalities, just from my experience as a parent.

What's the conclusion of the matter?
Teachers should quit complaining. They have a great job that can provide a good living and retirement. :2up:

Those positions are a small percentage of total teachers.

I am still amazed at the hours teachers claim they work

I have to develop Lesson Plans
My Algebra teacher used the same lesson plan he used ten years ago with minor revisions
My English teacher used the same lesson plan for Hamlet or Crime and Punishment she used for ten years

Grading papers.
Everything is on computers now and auto graded.
Multiple choice tests

Teachers in my school had free periods where they could catch up on work and were only at school for seven hours

As someone in the field, I see less problems recruiting teachers as a function of pay and more with the problem is that people don't want to go into the profession because - as a society - they feel the profession is shit.

Both my sisters said if they had to do it over today.....They would have never been teachers.

My mother loved being a teacher. Of course, that was back when kids put on clothes to go to school, and the focus was on academics rather than “woke” crap.

She never complained about her salary, either.

I started in the mid-90s, and even though things are bad now, my profession has given me such richness and joy I would do it again IF I could start over in the 90s.

I do not recommend anyone starting it now.

I call Bullshit
School Day is six hours and they have free periods with no classes and lunch

Are you telling me a Phys Ed Teacher or Kindergarten Teacher is working 10 hours a day?

My report time is 8:00 and my release time is 4:00. I get a planning period and 30 min for lunch, such a short time no one can leave the school.

But again, argue with the market. If it's such a great gig with great pay and benefits, why is there such a shortage?

Phys Ed teachers teach upwards of 150+ elementary children a day, at my level.

You wouldn't last three days put together.

The problem with that is when you lose great teachers because even they can't stand anymore, you've destroyed the profession.

I know this is happening in nursing too, and yet not many in society blame nurses. The truth is the public is insane and we are on the front lines, basically.

Yup. And Christmas Break. And summer break.

And they still get $100,000 a year by their mid-30s.

Who does? I'm 30+ years in and not seeing close to that.

Stop generalizing.

Well I'm not a marxist, and even though I was in the military and Trump thinks I'm a sucker and loser - I'm not that either.

Administers and facilitates, sure.

Meanwhile, I have taught hundreds and hundreds of children every single WEEK for 30+ years.

Please. Cut the fat.
