The purpose of government is laid out in the preamble of the Constitution. Cut out all or a majority of government workers and our government will fail to serve the majority of Americans.

This was quickly proved true by the cuts in the FAA and FEMA. Is there bloat? Sure, but it's also to be prepared for emergencies. Staffing only for a "normal day" isn't enough to cover for when there is a national emergency or natural disaster. The recent crash at LaGuardia is an example.

Well after Covid was reported there was first a glut of oil. Brent Crude sold for less than $10.00 in April. WTC couldn't be sold. Then OPEC+ cut production. After a few months demand started outweighing production and prices started rising.
 
Once Iran is taken care of, prices will drop. We will have a neutered Iran and lower
gas prices, a win-win for decades to come.
In mid 2027 at earliest. Production is shut down across the Gulf. Energy infrastrucure has been bombed across multiple countries.

Back in the days, Democrats were against automated bridge toll to protect their union votes. Today, all state owned bridges in CA are completely automated. You can’t stop the inevitable.

Yes, but my question remains unanswered. When a scoiety like the US sees huge numbers of unemployed people, who can't afford cars, rent, medicines, food - what will happen? what will government do? should government do anything at all?

It keeps people in work. A government can either pay workers to work or pay unemployed people to wander around seeking drugs and living on the breadline and resorting to crime, muggings, burglary etc.

So why would any President be so motivated early on in their Administration (Day 1) to pass restrictive policies on domestic energy companies?? Again, economically, this makes no sense.
Because of the fire sale of federal leases sold during the final months of Benedict Donald's term. There was no restrictions on current production, or current projects, or any cancelled leases, or cancelled drilling permits. There was no lack of prospects on federal lands. There was only the propaganda tactic of switching the effects of the Covid crisis on the oil market to Bidens EO's.

It was an easy sell to the MAGANUTS. Most of them still believe too.

I'd like an answer to my question first, I might be in favor, not looked into universal income much. But the question comes first, a society that has embraced technology (because capitalism wants that) that ends up with huge numbers of its citizens not needed for work, abanoned by a capitalist system that always favors investors (the rich).

When fewer and fewer people have disposable income then our socities will collapse because they are based on consumption, when there are fewer consumers there's less consumption.

The future looks grim.
 
Ever since OPEC decided to flood the market beginning in the last half of 2014 and with oil company stockholders dissatisfied with shareholder value following COVID, our oil companies have learned their lesson on trying to gain wealth based on the drill-baby-drill philosophy.

Nobody has an answer. I don’t and neither do you. Automation is here to stay. China isn’t capitalism but the country is rapidly turning to automation. No economic system is immune from AI.
