Key Points

Americans are feeling the pinch of higher gas prices, according to the CNBC All-America Economic Survey.

They are spending less on entertainment, travel, and even essential items like groceries and medical care.

Fuel prices have surged due to the U.S. war against Iran.

Americans are feeling the pinch of higher gas prices and are not expecting relief anytime soon, according to the CNBC All-America Economic Survey.

The nationwide survey of 1,000 people found nearly 80% have changed their spending habits in response to pain at the pump. The poll was conducted from April 15 to 19 and has a margin of error of 3.1%.

More than 50% believe the increase in gas prices will last six months or longer. Pump prices have surged more than 30% to top $4 per gallon since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on Feb. 28, according to AAA.

About 60% of respondents have cut back on entertainment like eating out, movies and concerts to save money. More than 50% plan to travel less.

Around 40% are spending less on essential items like groceries and medical care. Some 30% are relying on their credit cards more.

President Donald Trump has largely dismissed voters’ concerns. Trump said last week that gas prices “are not very high.” He referred to rising oil prices in an interview with CNBC earlier this week as “peanuts.”

The president told CNBC he is surprised that prices are not much higher due to the war. “If you would have told me that oil is at 90 as opposed to 200 I would be frankly surprised,” he said.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday that gas may not drop below $3 per gallon until next year.

Stop to analyze ZW and readers. This story is sold to you by the media. We have no clue at all if the media told us the truth this time, thanks to their scarlet past of lying.

Where does the USA get the petroleum? We sure do not get Iran's oil. We get oil from the USA and in fact export it.

Some tell you, the global market. BS, The United States is the global market then. We have billions of barrels of oil that can still be sold much cheaper. Some oil firms seem to use the war as an excuse to lay us all out. Normally I don't attack the oil firms in the USA, but smoke and mirrors are a thing I simply refuse to tolerate.

Yes, I have to spend an additional 3 dollars per tank every week ! How am I going to feed my family ???
:laughing0301:

That's why I find those "hair on fire" articles the OP posts funny.

For me it's around $10.00....OMG, that's 10 rounds of .30-06 I could be buying!

The media is scamming everyone in the US about higher fuel prices? An interesting view. How dare people use their lying eyes!
How much of Iran's products from oil have you ever bought? Have you checked with the local gas stations to find out that same question? Why do you believe the media this time.

Its not changed anything for me yet, but if prices keep going up, it might.
And its not just gas. Everything is freaking high right now.
The mango mussolini really fuckked shit up.

Seriously? First, domestic oil is cheaper to produce? Man, break even cost in the Premarin Basin is around $65 a barrel. For Saudi Arabia, not even $4 a barrel. Second, yes, it is a global market and we do export oil. Now, if you are willing to go back to the day when that was illegal I am right there with you.

What, 150 million households in the US? Even at three dollars, that is almost half a billion dollars a week. Half a billion going to the oil companies that could be going to buy ammo, entertainment, vacations, clothing, furniture. You think losing that half a billion will have an impact on the economy?

I have also pointed out previously, that a number of countries still have very cheap gasoline and are producers too. I wish the Media stopped scamming us into excusing our high prices as a blame on a war that is tens of thousands of miles distant. We are the major oil producer.

Before fracking got to be the best deal, our refineries were created to process heavy crude. We have a new one in TX that is online or soon to be online, to process the light crude. My primary point was we get nothing from Iran.

I haven't been up north since last year. 3.5 hours each way. I told my brother I'll catch a ride with him next time we go. We used to pop up to that town a lot even just Friday night to Sunday mid day then drive back home. Always spent $ when we went up at the gas station, supermarket, local restaurant, go to Jays Sporting Goods. Trump is destroying America.

This is one way to keep prices down. No ones buying so prices certainly can't go up.

So you're arguing this is a lie? What? This is the US TWI index.

While I agree with what Trump is doing globally, he needs to wrap up his globe-trotting, and start dealing with the promises he made here during his campaign, if he wants to keep the House and Senate. He's got 6 months to reduce gas, food prices, and inflation. If the voters don't feel the relief in real time, then Trump is committing suicide. His time is limited...

All those companies have to pay higher fuel prices as well, flowing through the economy. For example:

United Airlines says fares may need to rise up to 20% to offset fuel surge

You are aware that many countries control the price of gasoline, often times keeping it under the cost of production and subsidizing the difference.

Winston, that of course helps the residents in those countries. But what about the USA? I intend to debunk the media claim the war in Iran impacts domestic prices at the pump.

Due to Trump's illegal, unwarranted war of choice.
Of course, the conflict is his choice. But it really does not qualify as war due to the USA not invading Iran. We are kicking ass and taking names. And your opinion is it is unwarranted. I think you are not fully informed.
