Well, there is then — in my opinion — plenty of room for debate here. : )
When the U.S. invaded and occupied Iraq, the deep U.S. goal there was firm imperialist control of Middle East oil.
While the U.S. support for the Ukrainian nationalists is not without its own problematic history, and errors were certainly made, let us not forget that it is the Russians who are the old fashioned “imperialists” here, invading an independent country. The U.S. did not expect the Ukrainians to survive a Russian invasion, but they did. Abandoning Ukraine now is not now possible or advisable, though the time for negotiations may be approaching — if both sides exhaust themselves.
