Former Texas megachurch pastor indicted on child sexual abuse charges

She has been trying to get justice for 20+ years. She's had an attorney for that long trying to get Oklahoma to prosecute for 20+ years quietly....

Only recently, almost a whole year ago, she went public with her accusations by telling the press. Today, Oklahoma decided they were finally going to press charges. (Same DA this whole time) Because it suited them politically.

The charges aren't fictitious or even denied.
Which is the REAL STORY about how nobody did anything to help this woman get justice. The church didn't nor did the State of Oklahoma.

And she didn't make the allegations until 20 years after the fact, until she was in her 30s. Again, not saying it didn't happen, but ...

There's a whole thing on Reddit with all kinds of receipts and links to more receipts.
This is not some attention seeking woman crying rape 40+ years afterwards.
She has been seeking damages for over 20 years now....maybe longer.
Nobody, and I do mean nobody , would do anything. She's had a lawyer try to get damages...try to get him prosecuted...nada.
This all was made public last May, beginning of June. (Which is why he resigned) But Crossway church has known about these charges for 20 years and silenced her every way possible legally.

The Board claimed that they did not know the full extent of the "relationship". But that's not really going to hold up to scrutiny either.

Child abuse by manipulators is horrendous. Defending these manipulators is just as bad.

There is a lot to be learned in this matter. What sort of abuse?

When such a person engages with a boy, it always seems like it is a pattern of behavior with many victims. With a girl? Maybe not.

Regardless, if this is true he needs to be removed from the ministry and punished to the full extent of the relevant law.

Pastors run the gambit of weasels to actual saints. Majority are somewhere in between. Some are just dupes...easily beguiled into compromising positions where evil people take advantage of them. (By claiming sexual assault when none ever existed)

Some are outright embarrassing with the crap they preach from pulpits (Westboro Baptist)

However,
The majority are trying to do the right thing and encouraging others to be more moral than an average person.

That's why it makes headlines when a pastor is caught. Usually they aren't the guilty ones.

By and large most of the vast majority of churches in America have congregations of about 50-75 people. About half to a third of that show up on any given Sunday. The pastor(s) usually rotate in and out on Sundays.

The senior pastor of these mega churches are like rock stars or movie stars....kinda unapproachable by most of the congregation. You usually don't get one in your house for a home cooked supper.
And you just about have to kill somebody to be an elder in one of these megachurches. You have to be a multi millionaire and have a clean record....meaning only they know where the bodies are buried. (Careful around them or you might be one of those buried)

Now these churches do tend to spearhead all sorts of altruism in their communities with assistance for the poor or homeless. Also daycares and intramural sports for disadvantaged youth. Also summer camps and swimming pools. Also they are the ones with boots who rebuild communities after natural disasters. Not FEMA, Red Cross, or any other government program.

So....go easy on the Churches.
Salvation Army, Samaritans Purse, and other various Church Sponsored organizations have been instrumental in EVERY national disaster.

What do you think would be the American response if the same number of such events occurred under a group America currently hates, say Muslims or the new flavor the day, transgender.

What would the average American be saying about such occurrences were that the case?

Well....
There ARE statistics about these other groups....and Evangelical Pastors are not anywhere near as sexually active as those other groups.

However those other groups (Muslims & Transgenders) do NOT get the press coverage that Pastors do. Even the schoolteacher pedophilia problem at epidemic levels doesn't get much press anymore.
Catholic priests, while commonly after the little boys in their parishes aren't as much pedophiles as the press would have you believe.
But those other groups are 5-10X the pedophiles as published.

For whatever reason Clergy's sexual crimes are covered up so much more and for longer than even Congress's.

We had a Republican Speaker of the House who was a child molester.

We have a current Republican Congressman who helped cover up child molesting.

As I said, and say again, there are child predators in every walk of life and in every political party.
