Make excuses for attacking the protestors who were not engaging in destructive behavior but exercising their rights to demonstrate.

And to top it off - send federal agents to big cities to "fight crime" despite the fact that a city like New York has not experienced a significant rise in violent crime since it was Republican controlled years ago. At least now they are backing down a little and working WITH the local authorities who welcome assistance in solving unsolved cases but don't want uncontrolled feds patrolling their streets and rounding up citizens.

Yet New York - often targeted by Trump - is one of the safest large cities, with a low violent crime rate compared to other large metropolitan areas. But Trump wants to send feds to NY?

There are ways federal assistance can be valuable, and various mayors have spoken up about this. One example is in solving unsolved homicides. None of them wanted feds patrolling the streets.

Chicago has 150,000 KNOWN gangbangers. Guns don't magically kill people on their own.

No one wants to talk about what drives crime rates If they can’t blame political parties. It is much more SATISFYING to blame political parties...but few can point to actual policies that correlate directly to an increase in violent crime.

Of the 50 largest cities, only a quarter have Republican mayors. Two have Independents and the rest are Democrats. It is a fact that Urban areas tend to vote Democrat.

Data used in most of the rankings for “most dangerous” comes from the FBI.

There are a few issues here.

First, the varied demographic and cultural factors at play in each city make comparing raw data like this a questionable exercise. The FBI explicitly warns against this type of ranking:​

“These rough rankings provide no insight into the numerous variables that mold crime in a particular town, city, county, state, tribal area, or region. Consequently, they lead to simplistic and/or incomplete analyses that often create misleading perceptions adversely affecting communities and their residents. Valid assessments are possible only with careful study and analysis of the range of unique conditions affecting each local law enforcement jurisdiction."​

In addition, crime isn’t occurring all over a city but is typically concentrated in a few “hotspots”. If political affiliation were responsible, itwould be more broadly distributed.

But more broadly, linking crime and votes simply doesn’t reflect how crime works. Studies have repeatedly found that urban crime is not a widespread phenomenon — like voting is — but a product of small groups of people in small areas.​

One 2015 study examined crime networks in Chicago and found 70% of nonfatal gun injuries occur within networks that contain just 6% of the city’s population. Another study that year found crime across a number of cities was concentrated in “microgeographic hot spots.”​

Weisburd said his research revealed a “law of crime concentration”: Across an array of large cities, 1% of city streets account for about 25% of the crime, and 5% of streets account for about 50% of the crime.​
