Most of us evolved from species much higher up in evolution than a chimp. So far removed that trying to reduce humanity to the equivalence of apes is insulting.

It's been an extremely gradual process. Some groups within a certain species split off and start evolving in their own way while the others are essentially Left behind to stay that way. We have amazing hypersonic airplanes now but we still make little single engine Cessna's too. They're not obsolete and they still serve a purpose within the Big Picture. A lot of people on here are making it sound like it is the holy Grail of all living things to eventually evolve into humans and beyond or die out!. Which is completely fucking ridiculous!!!!

the number of chromosomes has nothing to do with what or how complicated something is. And neither does the number of genes or the number of base pairs of DNA.

What matters is what those genes are and how the cells and the organism use its set of genes. This is what makes a dog a dog and a dove a dove even though they both have 78 chromosomes. Which of course is way more than we do!

So you reject biological taxonomy! Do you reject that our bodies function much the same as other "creatures"? We have hearts that pump blood. Our bodies are composed of cells that are composed of various cell structures and all of this is controlled by DNA. Many medicines function the same in animals as they do in humans.

Classifying things into categories doesn't mean that all things in the same category are exactly the same. It simply means that things in the same category share some common characteristics of which that category is based upon.

Primates are a diverse order of mammals.. they aren't all alike. Bonobos, apes, humans and lemurs aren't all alike.
