Are there any sane republicans left

Honestly don't know how many times he has been reelected, but I do know that, even as dumb as that one remark was, it was the only example of him in such questionble territory. As for Gohmert, Walker, Ganahl, Marjory Taylor Green, and a host of other crazy right wingers, there are dozens of batshit crazy remarks from each of them. That's particularly disturbing for Ganahl and Walker since they each have such a long list of batshit crazy remarks after being involved in politics for such a short time.
'There’s the man from Ohio who lied about his military record, lavishly promoted QAnon themes, acknowledged bypassing police barriers at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and with 120 gallons of paint turned his entire lawn into a Trump banner.

There’s the man from Michigan who claimed that Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman participated in a satanic ritual, who once disparaged women’s suffrage, and who, though Black, raised concern about Democrats “eroding the White population.”

Then there are: the Texas woman accused by her estranged husband of cruelty toward his teenage daughter; the Colorado woman who backed an effort to secede from her state; the Virginia woman who speculated that rape victims wouldn’t get pregnant; and the Wisconsin man who used campaign funds from his failed 2020 race to come to Washington on Jan. 6, 2021, where he apparently breached Capitol barricades.

What they all have in common is that they’re in competitive races, which means they could well be part of a Republican House majority in January. And that’s on top of a larger group of GOP nominees in deep-red congressional districts who are a motley assortment of election deniers, climate-change deniers, QAnon enthusiasts and Jan. 6 participants who propose to abolish the FBI and ban abortion with no exceptions, among other things. Some won nominations despite efforts by party leadership to stop them and continue without financial support from the National Republican Congressional Committee.'

That is no longer the correct name. Now it's MAGA/Republicans or MAGA/GOP.

As I’ve noted many times: the idea that prior to Trump the GOP was a normal, slightly right-of-center party interested in sound, responsible governance is a myth – that Trump came along and ‘corrupted’ this otherwise ‘normal’ political party.

In fact, this has been the GOP for more than 40 years – Trump is the product of the aberration that is the GOP today.

Correct. I first noticed the change with Newt and Tom Delay, and their Contract on America. However, the trajectory changed drastically with trump, and it's much worse now than it would have been with another, almost any other Republican as president.

Perhaps – it’s hard to say with Trump still in the picture.

But much of the madness and insanity from the right – the promotion of QAnon nonsense, lies about Democrats participating in ‘satanic rituals’ and ‘eroding the White population,’ climate-change deniers, and seeking to ban abortion with no exceptions – are all part of the GOP agenda independent of Trump.

Are your own eyes credible?

If you are delusional enough to still think the grooming is a secret, you should advise these groomers to stay off social media.

Always telling when a poster demands a "credible source" because they dont' want to believe the most highly rated news network is credible, and then ignore original sources from which Fox gets its stories.

The question is do conservatives actually believe the madness and insanity they propagate; do Republicans truly have this much contempt for sound, responsible governance.

Or is there a method to the right’s madness – it’s likely part conservatives’ efforts to undermine our democratic institutions and hobble the political process perceived to be an advantage to Republican candidates and officeholders.

It’s a fact that when voter turnout is high, Republicans tend to lose – by undermining confidence in the political process, Republicans hope to keep voter turnout low.
