Pay raises with moderate inflation included was pushing people into higher tax brackets. Indexing was included in the 1981 tax cut with about a 25% cut in federal taxes over three years. Progs who speak for the little guy would not even attempt this. Go ask them. They are vultures. Reagan also had to deal with the debt accumulated from bonds and other bad deals and the Federal Reserve raised rates to double digits to squeeze out the debts enough to start new growth. We can not do that today. Or the Fed would have by now.

The fact remains that Reagan's 1981 And "job creating" tax cuts led to double digit unemployment by Nov 1982. Carter never had double digit UE. And Reagan tripled the national debt carter left him.
