I get it. What you don't get (or like) is that I know all about Catholicism. Fart more than you do. I was raised in it and was a firm believer until my mid-twenties. I debated Christians for decades and know all of their responses.

The founders and orchestrators of Cathoplicism knew all of the right psychological buttons to push. You have used the main ones in your posts. Fear tops the list and it says: "I believe and that is what God commands, and if you don't, extermination awaits at death, whereas I eat grapes for all eternity." Thus, Christianity is the narcissistic belief where believers imagine they are special because they believe and shrug their shoulders at naysayers because they want to get out of here alive. I disagree. The rules of the Catholic Church are steadfast and unchanging. What is true is that some of the leaders aren't preaching the things that need to be preached. So in that regard, you are correct.

I disagree. The rules of the Catholic Church are steadfast and unchanging. What is true is that some of the leaders aren't preaching the things that need to be preached. So in that regard, you are correct.

The thing is you can keep going to Church as a Catholic and they really don't turn you away, as opposed to smaller more independent congregations like Baptists that may confront you directly when you sway off the path.

You miss the very essence of Catholicism, which is to try to get as many people to Heaven as possible. This coincides with the perfect teachings of Jesus. What you instead are focusing on are the practices and alleged practices of fallible imperfect people. There are also forces who are opposed to people following the righteous way. I think the RCC is correct in handling it the way they do. I know you are correct when you say Baptists confront people directly, but I disagree with it. In a large Baptist church a few miles from here, the pastor tongue lashed an employee for some sin, right in front of the Congregation. Public humiliation is not how it's done. That's not love or kindness. Not only is there a great chance that person will never return to church, publicly ruining one's reputation is risky especially since the accuser may be wrong.

The Catholics on the other hand allow people to work out stuff on their own, and they are available at all times. Only in extreme circumstances (and not nearly often enough) will a priest or bishop openly forbid receiving Holy Communion, as in the case of a politician pushing abortion, as has happened to both Biden and Pelosi.
