The second amendment is the opposite of Prohibition.
Prohibition was the government telling you what you should do, based on what the government believed.
The second amendment is the general population retaining the power to prevent the government telling them what to do.

In a democratic republic, you want the power to remain in the hands of the general population, thus any federal gun control at all is inherently illegal.

There literally is no way to maintain a democratic republic without a well armed general population.
That should be obvious to everyone.
Federal gun control is intrinsically illegal.
It violates the 14th amendment where people are all supposed to be equal in the eyes of the law, because you then can't take guns from individuals that you give to mercenary police and military.

1) They repeal the lawful commerce in arms act....which allows every left wing anti-gunner to sue every gun maker in the country......

2) The local and state democrats are passing gun bans and magazine bans at the local level....

3) the left wing judges at the circuit court level are ignoring Heller and the other 2nd Amendment Jurisprudence and allowing those gun and magazine bans to stand...

4) hilary planned to use the Justice Department to sue gun makers into implementing the various gun bans and magazine bans they can't get passed through congress.....

5) the democrats are proposing confiscatory taxes on guns and bullets which would make gun ownership for the poor and middle class impossible.

6) here in Illinois they are passing requirements for security at gun stores that make it impossible for small gun stores to exist...

Because there's no possible downside to the state having a monopoly on force.

I see the reality of the situation is that monopoly of force already exists and that the 2nd amendment never was adequate protection from the state exerting its will. That's just my perspective, it's really up to who we elect as 2aguy asserts in in the OP. Whichever way it goes matters none to me, however I just desire that any change is made through the amendment process.
