Hey, here's a crazy idea: believe it or not, it's within our technological capability to run power lines underground or otherwise in contained spaces! Even high tension lines. It is a lot more expensive than going over the land, but you'd never have to cut the power or worry about the wind or it starting a fire, and the sheer lack of breakdowns and maintenance compared with landlines alone would pay for the expense in ten years!

It is a lot more expensive than going over the land, but you'd never have to cut the power or worry about the wind or it starting a fire, and the sheer lack of breakdowns and maintenance compared with landlines alone would pay for the expense in ten years!

The cost in my AO to do so was 10 to 15 times the cost of a overhead line and that was many years ago.....Of course that cost is passed directly on to consumers.
