New trump admin setting itself up to be national security threat from the get go.

You’re playing parsing games now. At a time when every world leader was condemning the Russian invasion and the Russians had to use their veto in the UN to prevent a resolution, this idiot is out in public praising Putin’s genius.

It was a ringing endorsement in that context. The world heard it, too. Sincecthen, Trump has not once failed to support Moscow’s interests. He followed up by saying that he didn’t care what Putin did in Ukraine, and endorsed the Russian annexation of Crimea.

Trump didn't say he supported the invasion? Are you sure?

Some stupid twat around here said he did.

this idiot is out in public praising Putin’s genius.

Can you post the entire actual quote where he did this?

Trump ignores transition rules. It’s a ‘hostile takeover,’ ally says.

Since his victory, Trump has ignored many of the rules and practices intended to guide a seamless transfer of power and handover of the oversight of 2.2 million federal employees. Instead, the president-elect, who has pledged to fire thousands of civil servants and slash billions of dollars in spending, has so far almost fully cut out the government agencies his predecessors have relied on to take charge of the federal government.

Trump has yet to collaborate with the General Services Administration, which is tasked with the complex work of handing over control of hundreds of agencies, because he has not turned in required pledges to follow ethics rules. His transition teams have yet to set foot inside a single federal office.

In calls with foreign heads of state, Trump has cut out the State Department, its secure lines and its official interpreters.

As his team considers hundreds of potential appointees for key jobs, he’s so far declined to let the Federal Bureau of Investigation check for potential red flags and security threats to guard against espionage — instead relying on private campaign lawyers for some appointees and doing no vetting at all for others. Trump’s transition team is considering moving on his first day in office to give those appointees blanket security clearances, according to people familiar with the discussions who spoke on the condition of anonymity to disclose private conversations.

trumples would be melting down if a Dem did this. As he demanded with cabinet nominees not being vetted by the Senate, he wants all members of his admin to escape any review by handing them security clearances.

For those of you who dismissed what some of us had warned about, namely, trump's inclination to run the government like an autocrat, it's happening. Hate to say it, but we told you so.

Yeah I read all that. It's a bunch of crap. This isn't 2016...he's a little smarter now and wise to the game. The last one he signed was used against him almost immediately because the fact that he's an international business owner. You can be sure he's going to have this thing with that very carefully and talk to legal experts on what It may or may not contain before he exposes himself to that liability once again. There's nothing illegal about it and it's not unwise to be cautious.

Or he could do what every other President has done with his investments, put them in a blind trust so that there's no question of conflict of interest.

The problem with Trump was that last time, he saw the Presidency as an opportunity to grift, such as charging the Secret Service to stay at his hotels (at much higher rates than a normal hotel).

I don't doubt that.... Believe it or not I don't see him as ideal for the job, just the best one available right now. Once again let me take some time to bitch about our horrible selection process.

But moving on.... I'm guessing the delay is born out of caution this time and yeah probably a hesitancy to do exactly what you said.

Republican and Democratic Former Senate Counsels Agree: F.B.I. Checks on Trump Nominees Are a Must

For several years, we were the Republican and Democratic counsels who reviewed presidential nominees’ background checks for the Senate Judiciary Committee. We know how the confirmation process is supposed to work and how important F.B.I. vetting is to that process. That’s why we’re appalled by reports that the new Republican-led Senate and the incoming Trump administration may dispense with it.

Without nominees being scrutinized by the F.B.I., the danger is that neither lawmakers nor the public would know whether they are trustworthy or have issues that could compromise their ability to do the job or their loyalty to the United States.

Efforts to bypass F.B.I. background checks and even Senate confirmation itself via mass recess appointments, made by the president when the Senate is not in session, never would have flown with past iterations of the Judiciary Committee, regardless of which party was in charge. The Senate shouldn’t stand for it now.

We still don't know whether his nominees will be vetted. Not vetting nominees is the kind of thing an autocrat would demand.

Was Trump seen rooting around in Biden's garage looking behind the Corvette for the classified documents?
