Ukraine has to be in the best position possible for any negotiation. If Russia is really serious about an offramp, they will call Ukaine leadership and offer a ceasefire until Trump takes office.

A WaPo article doesn't strike me as the greatest source for anything but be that as it may. The premise that the aid stays in the US is BS. It either goes to Ukraine as cash infusions or as military hardware (which has intrinsic monetary value). Since Ukraine isn't paying the value of the hardware, it is the same as if we sent $$$--which we are (except for the ten percent that Zelensky sends back to Biden.) In either case it doesn't stay in the US. Try again.
