The problems with Trump's "anger your allies" policy

^^^ member of the doormat party. Coming together to fight terrorism has nothing to do with the economic war these same countries wage on the U.S. Go find a brain then return to the discussion.
Ya think?

Do you think any of our allies would send troops to support US interests like they did after 9-11?

Trump has poisoned the well

Okay, if the US taxpayers wasting $122b a year keeping US troops in the EU, helping the EU economy isn't appreciated, we should bring our troops home. No problem, right?

Yes, no problem. I doubt Europeans would oppose the US using their countries in order to unjustly invade other countries, bomb other countries.

In Germany in 2003 there was a lot of debate about whether Germany should stop the US using German bases in order to invade Iraq.

How much does it actually "help the EU economy"? I'm sure there are jobs that benefit from the US being there, but the US cut back plenty after the end of the Cold War and it didn't harm the economies of Europe. In fact they just went and got richer.

Agreed. $we save $122b a year, and the EU funds their own defense.

Again, the US isn't there to defend the EU.

So, how does the US function without being able to project its power?

Say for example the Iraq War. Without the Iraq War, the US wouldn't have been able to destroy OPEC's power. The same with Libya. So, higher oil prices.

Saudi Arabia would not be a US ally, because Saudi Arabia wouldn't need to fear what the US could do.

The US wouldn't be able to control and manipulate what's going on in the world. If oil prices go up, the US would have to go with that. The US would just because a country with little power.

Look at China now, 4 times the population, but it's not really impacting world events very much. It can't project its military power.
