I've never seen a person tout their mental fitness as much as Trump. Why does he feel the need to convince us that he's mentally fit? If he was, he wouldn't need to convince anyone.

He does have a large ego. And in some ways he has character flaws.
However, he is not out to destroy America and aid it's enemies. The left most definitely is.

All GOP candidates for President are presented to us by the press as unfit, just like they are all presented as racists since Eisenhower. And at least half the country believes the press..............still............despite all of their proven lying over the years.
Meanwhile, Biden can't complete a sentence.

Anyone who brags that he took not one but two Alzheimers tests, then goes on national TV and states that some of those questions were difficult, then in the same interview makes allegations that his own staff can’t substantiate, shows that there is something terribly wrong in that person’s head.
Add to that Trump’s bizarre tweets, unhinged rants and inability to speak in coherent sentences, the American people have all the proof they need of Trump’s mental state. Trump is in advanced mental decline and should be removed from office and not re-elected. The stakes are just too high.

Trump discredits himself everytime he backtracks, flip flops, or opposes whatever his experts say because he doesn't agree, even in spite of the science behind it. And, those insults and dirty tricks only work if there is a significant kernel of truth behind it.

Just because a leader is mentally unbalanced does mean his supporters will desert him, however it often leads to tragic consequences for the country.
Adolf Hitler's behavior was that of a person that was bipolar, schizophrenic, and at times psychopathic. Mussolini’s struggled with general paresis, a disease which impairs mental function due to untreated syphilis. He was often delusional with auditory hallucination. Stalin suffered from several psychological abnormalities. Ivan the terrible, Henry VI, and George III were all mad as a hatter. Why do people follow leaders that are seriously mentally?

Since the election is going to be a referendum on Trump, Biden is going to conduct a very low key campaign allowing Trump to monopolize the media. That strategy has worked well so far. A candidate that's leading in the polls, nationally and in battleground states should continue doing exactly what he's doing which for Biden is not very much.
I expect Biden to chose either Harris or Warren for VP. Both are attack dogs that would engage Trump while Biden creates an image of the elderly statesman, the reverse of the Trump Pence campaign.
