The country needs a mediation team to detoxify the political environment. To separate the rapidly descending childish fights. pranks, gaffs and hissy fits and put the rabid partisans in "time out". I would say 4 years with a leadership team that will FOCUS ALL Americans on the issues and not on the side show.

The intervention is not only for the partisans, it is also for the media, who seem to thrive on baiting, trolling, and polarizing the public with tantalizing scandals and gaffes. Each one more outrageous than the previous.

Where are we going? We're headed straight to partisan HELL if either of the Dem/Rep candidates win. That would be like hitting the accelerator, when we should be braking and slowing down the inevitable meltdown. This is actually a National Leadership crisis. America just does not know it yet.

We are facing a ClinTrump victory that would seal America's demise as a "great country" -- regardless of the rhetoric. Because EITHER candidate is MORTALLY flawed, completely arrogant, unpredictable, and LARGELY disliked and not trusted.

What kind of mediation team would defuse the situation? A team like Johnson/Weld. Get America desensitized to partisan cross-blaming. Refuse to use the words :" they hit me first". Step into the middle of fights with a calm 3rd voice that solves problems --- not throw fuel on the fire. Two experienced "moderate" Governors that are ASKING for your vote -- not EXPECTING it. A team that only wants to see AMERICA win.

Four years of that would restore some calm to the shit storm we wake up to everyday now. Expecting both candidates to WIN or eventually go down in flames. And at the end of those four years -- you are welcome to start the brawl all over again. AFTER the intervention shows the love and respect that is DUE to this cherished process.

Quit letting fringe loonies near microphones. The media is going to interview the guy foaming at the mouth just because it is more info-taining. More reasonable people should have the courage to say that the crazy person does not speak for them, there's a lot more of this than usual this time around, cautiously optimistic.

Khan Khan Khan....now the thread needs to be closed :argue: j/k

America needs a Parliament. Screw trying to get these two clown cars to stop smashing into everything.

Are you implying Trump could win?

Bwhahaha!

America only has one party now. Deal with it.

And no, there is no room for losertarians either. Become a Dim or get crushed.

there's no love and respect due to any politician.

All very true. But someone needs to bring love and respect back to our method of choosing leadership. Our current contenst is beginning to look a little "Mad Max"..

Why?

If you want a police state what would you be doing? Wouldn't you want to do things like race baiting by implying that the judicial system is racist and ineffective with dealing with police racism so that blacks will shoot police officers in the streets in retaliation?

Wouldn't you want to attack the moral fiber of society so that they will be lawless and in need of a police state to maintain order?

All of this is planned and Hillary will be coronated to oversee it all.

Oh, and the Tea Party and capitalism will be blamed.

You mean the party that just got caught disenfranchising their voters, disrespecting their constiuentcies and had a soft coup d'etat? That party? They are now corporations designed to spar with each other for territory. They regular ABANDON losing districts. They stalk their OWN POLITICIANS and make them fear speaking out against the party line. THE PARTIES have BECOME the tyranny our founders warned about.

Disagree.

No ‘intervention’ is needed, and the last thing America needs is the likes of Johnson and sophomoric libertarian reactionaryism.

Instead, what’s needed is for citizens to realize the fact that the United States is not a democracy, that the people are subject solely to the rule of law, and that the voters alone are responsible for the good – or bad – government they get, not the politicians or the two party system.

Intervention? Who would provide it? The only intervention tyranny knows is economic or military collapse.

It will only get worse until one or the other occurs. Looking at the economic state of the world, my guess is an economic collapse.

Then again, perhaps an economic collapse is what they want. After all, that is how Hitler came to power. Then they could create a global economic system under one power.

Advanced psychosis? Hillary is bullet proof and fixed the primary. My guess is that Trump is throwing the General Election because they are such good friends.

As for economic policy, all they do is print money and create more entitlements and encourage more immigration and export jobs, all this with a $20 trillion debt?

Who is the crazy one here? Obviously this is not sustainable. I'm just trying to make sense of it all, so I have. How do you explain it?

More to the point, what the hell are YOU going to do about it? Vote losertarian?

Tsk Tsk Tsk. Welcome to the intervention. Belief that the 2 parties have not absconded your Representative Democracy is principle symptom of raging partisan dysfunction. You need the front row also.

There are only FOUR people that run Congress anymore. The other 531 are TOTALLY irrelevant. WHO ARE the Four? The party bosses. 2 in the House. 2 in the Senate. They control every action, speech, assignment and re-election of members. YOU THINK you can state the "two party system" has NOTHING to do with the dysfunction. Stick around.. There may be hope for you...

There is no reform from within. The only hope to save the system is the Article V movement. States need to rise up and strip power that has been subverted to the Federal government over the years. And yes, I realize there is about a snow balls chance in hell of that, thanks for that.

Put any party in there and the amount of centralized power will corrupt and subvert it, even the losertarians.

I'm gonna vote AGAINST the rot and pranks and arrogance. I'm gonna vote for a little HUMILITY and COMPETENCE and measured rhetoric. Hell I know how boring that will be. Likely to bankrupt a bunch of cable news and blogger media. Likely to put the Kardashians BACK on the front page where they belong.

But 4 years of measured leadership and a "time-out" on the partisan wars is the ONLY way to avoid a complete meltdown of the political process. Can you imagine the absolute war that will ensue if either of these damaged meglomaniacs win?

It used to matter to me about how "libertarian" Johnson/Weld would be. At THIS POINT,, surveying the carnage and the POTENTIAL for disaster -- I really don't care if they are libertarians or Rhinos with a good attitude or Bernie Sanders with a much better understanding of economics and govt mgt. What matters NOW -- is that we DEFUSE this bomb before the timer reaches 00:00:00...

Let's recap, shall we?

Johnson has no chance. Did you not see the post I gave about the electorial college being fixed?

Centralized power leads to centralized planning. Centralized planning requires absolute power to implement centralized planning.

They leave nothing to chance, including elections.

No, Trump won't win. Disagreed on "one party". The fact the Republican party is imploding is their problem. The Democrats didn't do it, the Republicans did it to themselves. In the end, as history shows, parties come and go, but the differences between Left and Right remain. We'll also have the Nanny Staters/Federalists versus the Individualists/anti-Federalists regardless of party title.
