America, are you on your knees yet waiting to buy an electric car?

It's funny how the White-wing is all up at arms about people buying electric cars.

You mean like leftists are about us carrying guns?

We could care less WTF you do, just don't force the rest of us to do it with you against our will. That's what we are up in arms about. Quit using our tax dollars to subsidize these golf carts. if they're so great, let the consumers decide if they want it or not without our tax dollars.

I wouldn't buy even a cheap one. They need another 10 years before they are reliable. Even inexpensive ones are going to cost you a fortune before the payments are all made.

Jesus battery replacement is insane. There are so many damn electronic parts no average person can do repairs so you have to pay jacked up rates for a shop, the nice increase to interest rates means you'll pay extra.

Besides who the **** wants to spend 10 hours charging a car? And the damn electric still comes from a power plant and the demand for electricity would outstrip most grids if even 20 percent of Americans had one.

Buying a cheap electric car is like buying a cheap gasoline car. You get what you pay for.

No enviro-kook has been able to explain what the hell we are going to do when a lot of people have them and we overuse the grid.

Nah, that would never be his plan.

Yup, I know. Hence the laughing emojis. Both of 'em.

Now, explain that to your trumptard friend who started this thread.

I very much doubt that we've seen the future with today's version of electric cars. Heavy batteries that require relatively scarce materials like lithium and ultimately need to be disposed of don't sound like a final answer.

But, we sure as hell have to keep trying and advancing. Well, if America is still interested in progressing, that is. From the looks of things, we may be headed in the the other direction right now, that's for damn sure.

That's the real challenge: battery (capacitor) tech. That's one of the tech plateaus we are sitting on. This will affect pretty much every form of energy we use.

ICE cars suffer from the same problem. Buy yourself an $80,000 BMW,and at 100,000 miles it's worth the about same amount as a Chevy equinox with 100,000 miles and you will be replacing internal engine and transmission components within 30,000 miles.

Even the allegedly "reliable" brands have the same problems. The newer engines are starting to show their warts after 100,000 miles. The engine tech moves so fast, nobody knows how reliable the engines on newer cars are.

Basically, cars are expensive as shit and not made to last.

I feel like there is a market out there right now for cheaper new cars without the mandatory 17" alloy wheels and impossibly expensive LED light arrays, without the cars being the size of a golf cart. 12" more inches of car costs $10,000, which is absurd.

All of this is ironically why the used car market is so hot. People cannot afford new cars without huge, long loans that keep the buyer underwater for 4 or 5 years.

Have the soaring gas prices convinced you that Biden is right, you need to buy an electric car? Or will he have to raise gas prices even higher to force..........er...........um.............to change your mind?

There is one little problem though, once you spend around $90 thousand for an electric car, after so many miles they have a slight tendency to catch fire and spontaneously combust.

Oh, and if it does not spontaneously combust, the battery will eventually go and cost you a sweet $20 thousand or so.

This man blew up his Tesla after learning how expensive the battery would be after the car had only gone about a thousand miles and needed a battery replacement.

It looks really fun, but I'm not sure it is worth spending some $100,000 to do.

I have a need for a 3/4 ton pick up and the prices are insane in spite of the shitty gas mileage
Apparently while gas prices suck, they don’t suck enough to change behaviors

Because people can go out and borrow "cheap" money. You can walk into a dealership with a middling to decent credit score and get an 8 year loan at 50% DTI without even handing over a paystub.

So people are purchasing vehicles that cost over a year's salary, only caring that their payment is under $900 a month.

They ignore the vehicle price and focus on their interest rate and monthly payment.

"I probably wouldn't buy it, but 7 years at 3.99% makes it affordable for me."

The difference in monthly payment between 3% and 4% on that vehicle is only $20-$30 per month. On a $700 payment.

These people are being fooled. The dealer finance managers know exactly what they are doing.

Did you think a gas engine replacement is cheap?

Can you do much of any at home work on a modern car of any type

Nope.

You can't even change the battery on most modern vehicles, unless you have a computer to interface with it and have the correct software.

Of course they change behaviors, you'll see this November. A million more people joined the Republican party within the last year. The Democrat party is bleeding the Hispanic vote like never seen before. And of course, Dementia's approval ratings are in the toilet.

The Communists have never learned that in the US, when government pushes or tries to force Americans against their will, we don't change the way we live, we change leadership.

Payments of $700-$900?

I guess inflation isn’t eating into paychecks as bad as claimed

Nonsense.

The roads are still crowded

Vehicles are wildly expensive and even gas guzzlers cost a fortune

Not seeing much of a behavior change

Lots of whining though

And those people will be voting Republican to address their problem. Without a doubt in 22 and likely in 24.
