They realize that a criminal investigation is likely and they need to talk to a lawyer about their options in counting the remaining ballots.

Then call the state and figure it out in court later. Thats what would happen if Sleepy were ahead.

So in an effort to understand...

The taxpayer pays a salary to an individual who hires a staff at the cost of the taxpayer and the individual sets certain guidelines such as "when ballots are delivered, they are to be put into room A".....but for some reason, some ballots are found in Room B, the janitors closet and the dumpster......
And the individual hired to make sure that doesn't happen simply says "we found ballots in room B" without any consequences to anyone.
Wonderful.

I am curious...the individual who opted to not follow the guidelines and instead of putting the ballots in room A as directed, he/she opts to put it in room B.

What happens to that individual?

A raise?
He'll be appointed as the next Deputy Director of the FBI.... :p
