After WWII, three countries tried Socialism and rejected it.

States Most Dependent on the Federal Government – 2022 Edition

Key Findings

  • Red states dominate the top 10. Eight of the 10 states most dependent on the federal government traditionally vote Republican. New Mexico (No. 2) is the only state in the top 10 to vote for the Democratic candidate in any of the last six presidential elections. Maine (No. 8), which splits its delegates, has voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the recent elections.
  • On average, federal funding makes up about 39% of state revenues. However, this figure varies by a margin of more than 29 percentage points. The federal share of state government revenue is highest in Wyoming, at 56.43%, and lowest in Hawaii, at 27.13%.
  • Connecticut ranks as the state least reliant on the federal government. Less than 32% of the revenue collected by the Connecticut state government comes from the federal government. That’s the eighth-smallest percentage across all 50 states. Connecticut also has the third-lowest percentage of workers employed by the federal government (1.47%) and fourth-lowest ratio of federal funding to income taxes paid (0.38).

You are confused Moon Bat.

There is no such thing as Red States and Blue States. That is something USA Today made up.

It is America and the Democrat controlled big city shitholes like New Orleans in Louisiana.

Those welfare ghettos in the "Red States" are where all that federal money goes.

Plus a lot of that Federal money goes to military bases in those states.

What else you got Moon Bat?

The author talks about Socialism as a political entity. Based on that, sure, the United States does not think of itself as Socialist.

But the article I linked to makes the bases of Socialism as a country where resources are used for the common good. On that bases, states that receive more money than they pay (in effect being subsidized by the richer states) are nothing but Socialist.

And as my second post shows, 8 of the top 10 states that are subsidized are Republican-dominated voting states. In effect, the same politicians who decry the "evils of socialism" have no problem receiving the benefits of socialism.

Are you really holding up Venezuela and Cuba as shining examples of what Socialism can bring to a country? :confused-84:
Yes, but as examples of their potential to work as combined examples of capitalism combined with socialism.

But as I suggested, also examples of America destroying any chance of progress.

Can you actually tell me what socialist programs that Chavez brought to his people, you find objectionable?

If you can't do that then can you tell us what the Jan.6th. protesters were fighting for?

I'll suggest 'social change' to get you started.

What else? The fact that you are a moron. Thanks for playing. Now, fuck off.

One can pull a counter viewpoint either way you want to lean.

Even racists understand that America's big cities are shitholes!

Don't tell him, a lot of those 'poor' red states used to be blue, then the electorate woke up.

No. You are using the vaguest possible definition of socialism to paint the US as a socialist country which is completely incorrect.
Actually, I have been very specific. I am using the actual meaning of the word "Socialism". The article you linked is one that is vague.

Prove me wrong. Go.

The facts are there!
But you're going to have to keep it simple and also subtle for them.

For example, they know that America's big cities are shitholes, and that presents an opportunity for finding agreement and common ground..

Then they can be asked for their ideas on how to fix the problems!
The lowlife will usually come up with ideas such as shooting all black people, but that's the hazards of this forum only. You can at least get the wheels turning in their shrunken heads!

LOL. They "woke up"? To what? Going Republican? And yet, they are still poor. What does that tell you?

Military bases don't contribute to the prosperity of a community.

Exactly. The point here is that the same idiots who claim socialism is bad, live in states that practice socialism.

I live in NJ. We get .75c for each dollar we send to Washington! Compare that with Mississippi which gets $2.53 in federal funding or Alabama which gets $1.25. (New Jersey is one of thirteen states that actually receives less from Washington, D.C. than it contributes.)

And yet, I'll bet both Mississippi & Alabama are chock-full of idiots who will decry socialism!!!

Cuba was quite literally a tropical paradise until Castro showed up. The Cuban people have suffered ever since. Venezuela was doing fine until they nationalized their major industries. Your attempt to derail the discussion down a J6 rabbit hole is respectfully ignored.

You don't know anything about Cuba or Venezuela. Read some history.

Corrupt capitalist dictators embezzled a lot of money..

I swear, you always come up with the most stupid comments.

There are a lot of civilian jobs connected with a military base.

Yep, but when they leave those communities like Charleston prosper.

It's simple! They extoll the virtues of socialism when they don't even understand what the word means. The greatest example is in Trump offering social change and even promoting a coup attempt against bad government. If Trump actually delivered for them, they would be America's leading socialist reformers.

What an awakening it would be for the Trump supporters if they came to understand that they are fighting to put down greedy capitalism and replace it with socially responsibility in government.

But how to get the message across to those empty-headed bozos like Delldude and company?

Keep on with Marathon mike. He doesn't like to give up without a decent effort. But be cautious of intimidating to the point of loosing him.
