Our governor, Hogan, came out the other day in a press conference claiming Maryland government had to rent an indoor ice hockey arena to store bodies back in the spring because all morgues and mortuaries and funeral homes in the state were over capacity. Ours is a state with a population of 6 million. Supposedly, four thousand and some change have died since March of COVID. Every day my wife and I drive by a local hospital which happens to have a funeral home right beside it. Never, not once during the past nine months, was the parking lot of said funeral home bustling or jammed. Neither was the hospital or any of the walk-in clinics nearby. The lies have become ridiculous in their overt misinformation, which is so easily debunked.

America's end, in hindsight, seems to have been predestined. For six decades at minimum our way of life has been trending toward authoritarianism and annual reduction of our Constitutional rights. When I was a teenager in Maryland I used to be able to get out the firearms my grandfather brought back from WWII and shoot them at old cars and other targets in the hundreds of acres of forest surrounding his farm. No one ever called the police or raised alarm despite some of those weapons being fully automatic. Nowadays? Nowadays a similarly aged American kid living in a similar rural area of Maryland doing the same thing would have police called on them immediately and perhaps face SWAT teams and aerial units and their parents locked up for allowing them access to such weapons. Madness.
