The american press will only talk about slavery by white people even though that ended 150 years ago!!!

Mauritania commits to ending modern-day slavery

march 14 2016 LONDON (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Mauritania has vowed to ramp up its fight against slavery, becoming the second African country to approve a United Nations treaty designed to give countries the legal muscle to combat forced labor and trafficking.

Slavery is a historical practice in Mauritania and both adults and their children are the property of their masters.

The Haratin, who make up the main "slave caste", are descended from black African ethnic groups along the Senegal river. They often work as cattle herders and domestic servants.

The West African country has the highest prevalence of slavery, according to the Global Slavery Index, which estimates that 4 percent of the population - or some 150,000 people - are living as slaves.

Because apparently only American slaves from centuries ago count. The media and the race baiters never mention Continental or Island slavery from days gone by.
Let alone the current slavery that exists world wide. Mauritania is the worst but there are many other countries where slavery exists.

In the here and now.

Mauritania is a MUSLIM COUNTRY-----slavery is legal in islam

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Slavery also exists in the bible. Anyway Islam is not a govt and can't make something legal though islamists can say they approve of slavery.

what does the bible have to do with Islamic law? There are no countries in the world that use biblical law as its civil code----but there are countries that use shariah law------Mauritania is one of them

Yo,
To understand why some of these passages above are applicable to our laws, one has to go back to the formative era of our nation and to America's culture and thinking at the time. The leaders of the various colonies, states, and ultimately the Founding Fathers themselves were steeped in biblical thinking. They drew from the Bible examples and looked for confirmation of ideas for government in Scripture.

We had an atheist visit our site and expressed a good bit of displeasure with some of the above citations. We responded that he should relish the freedom of expression that a Christian culture put in place for him. And that he should be thankful that our culture was not founded on atheism, given the horrible result of atheistic governments in the past (such as Communist Russia, etc.).

We on the Right? We are still fighting the Devil, they are the Socialist Progressive Democrat Party!!!

Why are you struggling to be stupid? I do not know what MAURITANIANS
"wrote" Several "Islamic" countries cite the koran as the basis for the laws
of the land. You did not know? Mauritania is probably such a country. I am
a jews born in the USA and the daughter of two jews born in the USA. If you
tell me a bit about your background----I would be more able to help you out of
your ignorance

Well - saying the koran is the "basis" of our laws is not at all the same as saying it IS the law. You can't think.

I can think quite well------and have information from reliable sources. My own husband was born in SHARIAH LAW country----------unlike you I have actually
ENCOUNTERED person from Mauritania (hubby is not from Mauritania) You
are either very ignorant or----(more likely) ---a shit brain liar

So you're backing off from your original claim that the Koran IS the law and now are claiming it is merely the BASIS for the law.??? Your capitulation is noted.
