A perfect example of the left's view that it's okay - “But not for me.”

The issue has long produced conflict in the eco-friendly county, California's wealthiest. Officials are being urged to help workers find housing in a place where the median home price is $650,000.

As pointed out at American Power blog @ American Power: NIMBY Progressives: 'Green' Marin Rejects Affordable Housing for Immigrant Workers

We see story after story of leftist hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy. It's ridiculous. Extremely affluent and cloistered in environmental smugness, these people couldn't care less about immigrant workers or clean air, if ameliorating such would impair their lavish lifestyles.

More than a decade ago, Lucas donated an estimated 800 acres of the ranch property to the Marin County Open Space District. Of the remaining land, only 20 to 30 acres is "actual, buildable space," Peters said.

County planners peg the site as appropriate for around 240 units, although no plans for construction have been submitted. That, Peters said, could happen by summer.

Grady Ranch is "a grand opportunity to address a long-standing issue," Peters said, and anyone who thinks this is payback has never spoken to the filmmaker.

"This is George Lucas. He doesn't need to engage in small-town pique."

why did the OP use some blog to talk about it?

becuase the facts in the real articel he didnt like

This is truly breaking news, that nimbyism exists somewhere in the USA. I had never heard of such a thing before. Thanks to the OP for bringing this shocking new scandal to our attention. There wasn't anything dishonest and cherrypicked about it at all.

Except that this is bluest of the blue. True crystal-worshipping, bleeding heart country. And yet -- they can't seem to allow THEIR community "standards" to be altered by the needs of the "needy".

As opposed to say my Hillbilly Hollywood neighborhood which is redder than barn door. And somehow, we''ve managed to include "affordable housing" in the 13th richest county in the country. AND we have great schools and money in the bank to boot. Which means that those affordable housing folks get to send their kids to some of the best public schools in the country..

Short version --- we play and share better than the primadonna hypocrits in Marin...

Just so people can see what a loon saigon is. His fundamental lack of honesty is fully displayed here...

No, they havn't been. In 2007 the revisionists were proclaiming an ice free arctic by 2013.
WHOOPS.... You see dear silly person with this wonderful thing called the internet we can go back and print up all the stupid halfwit claims made by the revisionists....so that revisionists like you can't revise history, and the historical record, to suit you.

Must suck to be so wrong so completely....all the gosh damned time.

Arctic summers ice-free 'by 2013'

Arctic summer melting in 2007 set new records

Scientists in the US have presented one of the most dramatic forecasts yet for the disappearance of Arctic sea ice.

Their latest modelling studies indicate northern polar waters could be ice-free in summers within just 5-6 years.

Professor Wieslaw Maslowski told an American Geophysical Union meeting that previous projections had underestimated the processes now driving ice loss.

Summer melting this year reduced the ice cover to 4.13 million sq km, the smallest ever extent in modern times.

Remarkably, this stunning low point was not even incorporated into the model runs of Professor Maslowski and his team, which used data sets from 1979 to 2004 to constrain their future projections.

In the end, it will just melt away quite suddenly

Professor Peter Wadhams

"Our projection of 2013 for the removal of ice in summer is not accounting for the last two minima, in 2005 and 2007," the researcher from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, explained to the BBC.
"So given that fact, you can argue that may be our projection of 2013 is already too conservative."
