Not really. I struggled for many years to learn another language, unsuccessfully.

I took Latin for three years, too, and hated every minute of it. But, surprisingly, it served me very well in the military as I was able to suss out the meaning of road signs and other such things in many countries.

I had a Puerto Rican girlfriend who taught me all the dirty words in Spanish.
