He was a nice guy and his Son raced Open Class , I was racing 125 class at that time so we only were on track at same time during practice . ( Met Gene years later in Downtown Los Angeles when I was A Courier for Law Firms and he was shooting a Suntori Whiskey Commercial and he could remember the Saddleback park race )

Before the dinner date, Hackman enjoyed a cup of coffee and some apple pie from a local Speedway store.

The couple's outing marked the first time they were seen together in public for 21 years, with the last time being at the 2003 Golden Globe Awards, where he won the Cecil B. deMille award.

Authorities said the deaths were “suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation” after also finding an open pill bottle and pills scattered around the room where Hackman’s wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, and the dog were discovered.

Meanwhile, Hackman’s body was located in a separate room, and there was “no obvious sign of a gas leak,” according to the report.
