Active shooter Ohio State University...

So....it's the fault of "gun free zones", eh?
Certain universities in certain states are gun free zones by statute.

It all depends on the state and on the university.

The recent issue of the chancellor of the U of Texas resigning over this is a classic case.

Most chancellors logically do not want their private police/security forces challenged by students with guns.

But that seems to infringe the 21 year old students from protecting themselves under the Federal 2nd Amendment.

There are no easy answers to this question.

More police on campus means more costs and higher tuition. College kids normally do not want to go deeper in debt to pay for higher tuition -- they will protest, march, and riot over this financial issue.

Where I went to college the school did not allow guns on campus -- never have and still don't.

So I had to keep my 9x19 pistol at home.

I bought it the day I turned 21 during my senior year.

I have owned a pistol or a revolver ever since, and at least one rifle and/or shotgun too.

Guns on campus is a difficult issue.

Well, we never hear of an "active shooter" at a gun show, do we? Why do you think that is?
Oh? So people aren't shot or killed at gun shows? Let's remember that Baton Rouge wasn't gun free....those open carrying ran away like little girls.....

The first step when you hear gunfire is to take cover. This involves a certain amount of running and hiding.

The second step after you have found cover is to ascertain where the gunfire is coming from.

The third step is to call-in a report on your cell phone. You should always have a cell phone with you.

The forth step is to let the shooter come to you so you can surprise him/her with a shot against them when you have a good protected position and angle on them.

So don't criticize running and hiding. NOT running and hiding could easily get you killed if you are outgunned.

And you should never get into a gunfight when you are outgunned or outnumbered.

Ah...so gun carrying citizens....it's expected to have you run like little girls. EXTREMELY helpful, folks.

The CCW LTC does not make you into Rambo.

And the absence of training precludes you from playing cop.

You are supposed to use the CW to defend yourself, not to play Rambo or cop.

Cops are perfectly happy if you call-in situations and sit tight, then report from a safe covered position what is happening.

This is still a really vague article.

The shooting could all be due to police.

A knife may be involved.

This is really JUNK NEWS at this point.
Did you even bother to Google "active shooter" to see if there were other reports? This shit was happening as we type. Yes, a lot is speculation but there should be no doubt there was an active shooter(s) and people were hurt.

The CCW LTC does not make you into Rambo.....
Correct. What it does, however, is create a large amount of doubt in the minds of potential shooters. It's no mystery why they like to attack "gun free zones". Besides acting as a deterrent, the other part of CCW is self-defense. If confronted with by an active shooter would you rather have a cell phone or a handgun with which you are both familiar and qualified?

At least it isn't the National Guard this time...
...yet.
Yep. Students learned to not throw bottles at armed men. You would think they would have known but at least they finally did and passed the message along.
The four students killed on May 4, 1970 at Kent State were not killed by bottles. They were killed by the Ohio National Guard firing live ammunition into a crowd.
No shit. What did I just say?
The blame for their deaths lays squarely at the feet of the Ohio National Guard, not students throwing bottles.

Then maybe the crowd shouldn't have been there in the first place.
It's a college campus. They were supposed to be there.

I love the disingenuous accusation that the gun owners "ran away like little girls" **** off you patronizing little shits.

So sick of it.

No moron....it is the fault of the gun free zones that those students have to wait for the police to arrive...with guns......to stop a mass shooter....

The gun free zone does attract these killers......though...since they target gun free areas....

That at a gun show? Link please.

While the screeching anti-gun Left bitches incessantly about both concealed carry and open carry, they, like you, also ridicule those who have guns but only use them in self-defense. As people like you looooove to point out, they aren't "Rambo" nor police officers. Their goal is to defend themselves and protect their families. If I heard there as an active shooter in a mall or school, I wouldn't whip out my handgun and go looking for them, I'd take my family and get the hell out of there. If faced with a shooter, I'd defend myself. I'm truly sorry you can't understand this point......or perhaps you do, but you don't want to admit it. Which is it?

You should stop feeding the troll......

Wrong. A hit in the head with a rock or bottle can be lethal. You would be stupid to not defend yourself.
