Trump 45 constantly whined about Obama's JCPOA which had resulted in great success in ridding Iran of its enriched uranium among other accomplishments.
One of his chief complaints was that the JCPOA did not address Iran's ballistic missiles.
Example:
Not only does the deal fail to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions, but it also fails to address the regime’s development of ballistic missiles that could deliver nuclear warheads.
Okay? With me so far? Trump 45 was all about Iran not having ballistic missiles.
But what about Trump 47?
On the first day of his war with Iran, Trump put on his tough guy voice and said, "We're going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally again obliterated."
That never happened. Iran continued to fling missiles all over the Middle East, including killing 15 Americans and wounding hundreds more.
But the MOU made the elimination of Iran's ballistic missiles a central part, right? I mean, that was one of the key reasons he ripped up Obama's JCPOA. So the MOU requires Iran's ballistic missile program to be kaput, right?
Right?
NOPE!
There isn't a single word about ballistic missiles in the Memorandum of Understanding. Not a word.
Now, I always thought George Orwell was being allegorical when the proles in 1984 would do a complete mental flip-flop in a millisecond.
"We have always been at war with Eastasia."
Based on the behaviors of Trump's followers, I have since come to realize Orwell was being literal.
Here's Trump at the G7 summit after signing the MOU:
Trump: Unfair for Iran not to have ballistic missiles
"If other countries have them, it's a little bit unfair for them not to have some. A ballistic missile is not the same thing we're talking about when we talk [about] nuclear. If Saudi Arabia and Qatar, they all have some, I would say in relative proportion – I think it's ok."
1. Ballistic missiles, unfair not to let Iran have them.
2. $25 million cash payment to Iran.
3. $300 billion in reparations to Iran.
4. All sanctions lifted.
Total. Capitulation.
This sure has not aged well:
