I've said from the first day of this that this has never been about politics for me. I have several agreements in principle with these people. This isn't politics. This is about who we are.

And one of the things that worries me is the impulse I have when I see one of them admitting they blew it, admitting that they see what they have done. The old me would have shown empathy and understanding.

But it's been difficult for me, given what they have enabled, and that has been a punch in the gut. God damn. That's not good.
